I have the first wave of hive from british gas, the 'hub' that lights multicoloured. will this work or do i need the new style hub?

I have the old style hub too and my light (dimmerone) works well, no problems

will it work with Google home?

Works absolutely fine with Google Home - especially on voice control - Google Home 'voice' so much better than the Alexis one I have 9 of these. 3 are linked 'spotlights' Gu-10 as 'Bathroom Lights' I say 'Turn On the Bathroom Lights' & all 3 come on at same time - cool !

What makes this worth £34 compared to the other lights that are about £15?

I don't know. When I started my smart home, Hive was the only company that I could use to control my central heating with and the crafty sods gave me 4 lamps to get me started with. But since alexa and google came along things have changed. I paid £15 for 2 colour changing lamps and there great. I have about 4 different make of lamps and they all work through my alexa app. I wouldn't spend £34 for 1 lamp when I can get 4 for £30 and buy 2 lottery tickets.

Does the Hive Active Color light have an automatic changing colour setting?

No unfortunately not ... it would be cool if it did
