Excellent little filter...
Very pleased with this excellent little filter from Fluvial. It does the job perfectly and is so quiet that sometimes I don't believe it's running. Water flow is great and is ideal for the smaller aquarium. I'm very pleased with this filter and the price is good too, have seen it in local retail shops at a more expensive price.

Small but mighty (with modification)
Fair little, simple internal filter. It does what it says. I read a review slating it as the box says for 45l tank and they were expecting 200l tank from the listing. User error in that case I'm afraid; the listing quite clearly states 200l/hour turnover, suitable for a 45l tank. So cycling the volume of the tank just under 4.5x an hour.Anyway, my observations after 6 months of running on a 40l guppy tank:It has a moderately powerful flow rate, which I find ideal for raising Guppies, but more sedate fish will find it too fast, I definately wouldn't use it with a Betta. It's silent in running after it's primed itself and access to the impeller is quite easy for cleaning. There aren't any options for flow control (direction or flow), but it is a very basic unit. The supplied sponge is realistically too small for the canister and allows too much detritus to flow around it, allowing the impeller to clog, or worse stall. I've rotated the sponge 90 degrees to fill the bottom of the canister and placed some filter floss above it and some bio-media on top of that. This has kept my tank water much clearer. The bottom loading of the filter media can become a bit of a chore. The lower suction cup invariably dislocates itself from the unit when pulling it out for cleaning, but for what it is and the price I can forgive the primitiveness of the design.I originally bought it as a stop gap after my old unit died & haven't felt the need to upgrade as it works, even if it is a tad fiddly.I can't give it full marks, as I've had to modify the filtration system and feel like eventually the bottom panel (where you access the media) will fail.

Silent and easy to use.
I have this in my 55L tank, and it does a great job. It's extremely quiet! I recommend this filter if you have a small tank, and need something that doesn't sound like a jet engine!!Very easy to use and clean. Simply take it out of the water after unplugging and then take the top end off. Remove the sponge from the bottom and give it a good clean. Pop it back in, all done.It creates a nice gentle flow in the water which is perfect for my Fancy Goldfish. She doesn't like strong currents, so this is perfect.I came back to buy a second filter because my goldfish is so damn messy! So now I have two running in my 55L tank and it's still much more quiet than the filter that came with the tank.Highly recommend if you want a silent filter that actually is silent. Obviously at night you will hear a faint buzzing, but still better than the sound of a jet engine ;)

Great filter but output very strong
This works really well but as another reviewer said way too strong output for betta - a shame you can’t turn flow down .. easy to clean.. I’m now using as a second filter in a bigger tank which is fine

Quiet little pump
After buying a new fish tank the Aqua One EcoStyle 47 which came with an inbuilt pump and filter system, the pump became noisy after the first day. Had it changed and the second pump did the same. The pump is just too cheap or not well made.Saw this Mini Fluval pump which had good ratings and people said it was quiet. They were not wrong, this pump is quiet and I have it in my bedroom. Also it's small too and doesn't take up much room at all.The only gripe I have is the bottom sucker slot. The sucker keeps coming off when you move your pump to clean it. Little annoying but not any major problem as you just have to fiddle around putting the sucker back in place.Cleans my tank well and now I'm just waiting for the good bacteria to build up in the filter to deal with the emmonia level.

Exchanged my Built-in Filters on my Tanks for this Make
I needed a filter for my 15L tank as my built-in filter that needed wool filter died on me slowly. I have a larger filter of this maker for my larger tank. These are guaranteed to work well and they do. They are very easy to clean out and reading the cleaning instructions is a must. Adding filter liquid to the sponge is advised and the whole thing is so quiet that you have to check whether it's working or not. I make sure I have plenty of replacement sponges so that I can rinse then soak the used sponge in boiling water to kill off any bugs or snail eggs. Rinse them out and leave to dry so that its fresh for next water change. The sponges don't need renewing very often. I have no problems with the bottom sucker on the smaller filter but I do on my larger filter, but as long as you push the sucker down into the slot with a fine screwdriver it should stay in the device.

Only comes with a UK power plug
Great product, but it was sent with a U.K. power plug and not Australian, so I had to buy an adapter to be able to use it.
