Sons of Anarchy - Season 3 [DVD]

Below par...
I was really hoping this show would improve as it went on, but it seems to have taken a step backwards with Season 3. The main storyline is all about the gang's trip to Ireland, and considering the nature of the trip and people they were dealing with, I was expecting some real tension and high drama. (Within reason...)Unfortunately, the programme makers seemed to have gone out of their way to let us down this time. The whole Irish thing is totally unconvincing. I think they just told the actors to put on any Irish accent they could manage, regardless of the region, and that's what they got. No two accents are the same, and I think some of them are pretending to be Leprechauns, just for a laugh. It's totally cringeworthy.I believe they actually went to Ireland to film some of the scenes, so I don't know why they went and spoiled it by making some of the outdoor scenes in California. I don't think Belfast has ever seen such a beautiful clear blue sky, or such loud crickets in the night.Their dealing with the border guards was a laughably poor scene, and like the whole adventure, it was just not convincing in the slightest. The only saving grace of this whole series were the female characters. They seem to be overtaking the men for storylines and character development...Note:This was watched on Amazon Prime Video; picture and sound quality both very good.

Phenomenal Show.
I never dreamt that an old "stick in the mud" such as me would get so totally hooked on a series about a motorcycle gang called Sons of Anarchy.Put any predjudices you might have to one side and watch this incredible series. It's the story of an american "Hells Angel" style motorcycle gang. Only they are also an organised crime gang, running guns, protection and prostitution rackets. SOA delves brilliantly into the personal lives of the key players and the internal politics of SOAThen there is the determined efforts of law enforcement to bring them down and the dramas this brings.Every episode of each series is superb, with great story lines, stunning acting and a lot of gut wrenching, brutal violence. As long as you can stand the violence this is as good as it gets, unmissable, superb, gripping, a masterpiece of a show with a unique perspective.I would give this 6 stars if i could. Watch it or i'll send the boys around.

PRESSURES EVER MOUNTING, DITTO BODY COUNT
Another most powerful, violent season. Divisions between biker boss Clay and stepson Jax, though, are put to one side - they united in their quest to track down abducted baby Abel. Movingly rival gangs co-operate. All have their own code of conduct - snatching of a child crossing the line.Action thus moves to Ireland, where duplicity reigns - everybody encountered seemingly with hidden agendas....As before, strengths include fine scripts and impressive acting - Ron Perlman, Charlie Hunnam and Katey Sagal heading a great cast (which this time includes James Cosmo as a priest not to be trusted). Some may feel the baby abduction storyline does not really convince and the Irish connection suffers from some dodgy accents. Such reservations are minor compared with the riches, not least a great climax with awesome twists coming fast and furious.Interesting bonuses include the scriptwriters discussing their craft. (Apparently one character in Season 1 so impressed he was not killed off at its end as originally intended.)All is set now for Season 4, startling family secrets surely guaranteeing a return of Clay-Jax hostilities.Recommended.

excellent third season
Sutter continues to deliver a fine show. The club has is hands full in this season. Gemma is on the run, framed for murder. The mayans are on the move, Jacob Hale continues his scemes and the search for abel continues. The trail leads to Northern Ireland where Jax finds more than he bargained for. More of John Tellers past is revealed and this will affect the clubs future, and the club is caught up in an internal fight between ira factions. Betrayal is waiting around every corner and the sinister father Ashby has his own agenda involving jax and Abel. You need to have seen the first two seasons to understand whats going on so get them as soon as possible. You won't be disappointed.

Men of mayhem !
I just love this series and have just seen bikers in a new light . I have followed the series since it started on 5 USA and cannot wait until the next series comes out . I think that a new series 6 starts in the autumn but I am not really sure . Great cast , great stories and the music is brilliant as well . Charlie Hunnam as Jackson Teller is just simply amazing as is Katey Sagel who plays his mum Gemma . The bad sleekit devious part goes to Ron Perlman who plays Clay Morrow. You just have to watch this series to actually get to know and either love or hate the characters who so brilliantly bring this amazing show to life. Great viewing .

Buy it, and continue the saga!
By season three, SoA has really established itself, and isn't working to introduce the characters and settings, but instead starts to really knuckle down into the myriad of broken relationships that defines the Sons of Anarchy - Redwood Original Motorcycle Club. It is perhaps almost *too* easy to make the obvious 'Shakespearean' references (Hamlet) with Step son Jax Teller and Club president Clay Morrow. But, if you don't mind the violence and gritty drama, you will enjoy the adventures of the club, including a trip to Northern Ireland, and a showdown with the IRA!
