Rotastak Space Command Small Animal Housing

In view of all the other comments I was a bit apprehensive about buying this cage due to the difficulties in putting it together and not being able to get to your hamster, etc. etc. HOWEVER, after buying this and putting it together in a matter of 30 minutes, I was so pleased at the outcome! It's true the instructions are a bit too vague, but this doesn't matter as it is pretty easy to put together using your initiative. Everything comes apart easily giving you much access to your little friend and also means it can all be taken apart for cleaning which makes this a perfect home for a little hamster, mine loves it!! I would definitely recommend this to anyone out there wanting a cage as it is versatile, easy maintenance and when put together properly hardly any risk of Houdini attempts!Another awesome aspect which you can't see on this picture is the lid of the main part is slightly glittery and I can't wait to buy more bits to make it into a proper burrow!Don't let the building opinions put you off! Buy it and have a go, if you really do struggle it can always be sent back, but I can assure you, you won't!!

tubes come in lateral half sections that must be held together with the supplied clips which are not easy to attach and have a habit of coming off when the 'cage' is moved. Looks good in the bedroom and the hamster enjoys the space. Fine if it can be left without moving.

The cage looks fantastic but unfortunately the tubes are flimsy every time you touch them they break they are not secure enough! I’ve had to tape them together due to the fact they could come undone.... I’ve had my hamster for a day now and she hasn’t even been able to go to the bed or the food and drink dome because of how little grip the pipes have and how steep they are! Took half an hour to put the tank and everything together but the pipes took the mick!!! It’s taken me all day to figure out how they go and when I finally managed to get it done they just come apart with little movement! I do not recommend this cage unless you have Patience...I’m not happy at all with the time taken to fix it together and the top keeps caving in whenever you twist it to move then pipes.... don’t want my hamster getting hurt 😡

There are good things and bad things about Rotastak as a hamster home. This package is basically quite good, with the combination of a 'rainbow-runner' wheel, a living pod, a burrow/tank, a dining room and some tubing. But don't be under an illusion that its enough - you'll want to add more tubing, a carry case and ideally you'll want some more chambers and maybe a rotastak pod too. Hamsters aren't the sleepy little things you see in pet shops during waking hours, they're very active, very busy little creatures who really benefit from an enriched environment with lots to do.So as a starter set or an addition for those already bought in to Rotastak, this is brilliant, and at the time of buying excellently priced. But please, for the good of your pet, don't only use this. Get more.

Depending on Rotastak for my small animals housing needs has always been a safe bet. I was worried about other reviewers' comments about things falling apart and needing to resort to sticky tape, but curious and confident that I had used all of these products in my early years, I was sure that for my children, I could get it together.It is clear for me, that the bendy tubes in the picture are all of the others' problems due to being a little fiddly and requiring patience in routing design and alignment of the upper and lower housing units to get a good fit, if you try to force it - tada! the parts pop apart and clatter to the table top, mocking your efforts. Slow down, rotate each tube in relation to the next and like a wriggling snake, you can find the alignment that works.Maybe Rotastak could expand the instructions to help out the less dextrous with some handy hints, but after all, it went together fine, it's secure and the hampy loves it. Good work!

A little tricky to put together, especially the tubing which is brittle and connectors not flexible at all. Broke open in the middle of night after a few days due to weight of hamster climbing the tubes. The cat then used cosmo the hamster as a toy and it died. We then taped up each connecting tube so not to happen again with our replacement. Not ideal and in general the cage fiddly to clean and a real pain. Decided to throw in the bin and give our new hamster an upgrade to a cage called hamster heaven. A much much better option we have found.

We bought this as a replacement for our existing cage ,it is spacious ,lots of areas for your hamster to explore ..strong and no bars that the bedding will go through as in our exiting one! but our dwarf hamster could not get between each compartment unless you adapt it. I sadly had to sell it and buy exactly the same model as we had ....others gave great reviews but our hamster just didn't prefer this design ...maybe if it was her first home but as we've had her for a year she likes her old one ....bars to gnaw on & easier tubes to climb...

The hamster cage was perfect for our Syrian hamster, a lot of the cages we looked at were too small, but this one is ideal spacious, so we have one happy hamster now. The tubes are a bit fiddly and changing the hamster is a little harder now, as there are more sections and the tubes do come apart. It is however a good sturdy, secure cage so no escaping hamster. The bottle was little small for a Syrian, but that is ok we will swap it, overall very happy great cage and the children love it too as it is a space theme.
