Ronseal CKS125 125ml Colron Knotting Solution

This covers knots and keeps them sealed! My last tin has done my whole house over ten years and has only just ran out, ( mind you it would probably been nine years if I could have always got it opened first time!)

A little goes a long way. It seals knots to stop knots showing in your woodwork and prevents sap leakage that can blister your paintwork. Great idea having a little brush incorporated into the lid. Easy product to use. I only used about a quarter of the tin coving 1 metre high by 20 feet long to knot seal tongue and groove prior to painting (one application per knot). Time will tell if this has worked. I'll update this review if there are any issues.

It seems to have solved the weeping knot problem on our pine garden office, - not too smelly quite easy to use, apart from the attached brush attached to the lid which was a bit silly. Repainted a few hours later and it now there is no evidence of the previous problem. Happy with the product, does the job and goes a long way, - treated a 2M x 5M garden office and still have a half tin left.

This stuff is good covers and stops bleeding on the wood

This seems to have done the job. I used 2 coats and it was easy to apply. The only downside was that it does not dry clear but a yellowy brown colour meaning that I could not use a clear varnish over the top and had to use paint to cover.

Have bought this product in the past - does the job and makes sure knots don’t show through over time. Just a little expensive.

Have you ever seen skirting boards with yellow knot marks showing through the paint? That's because the builder didn't use Knotting Solution to seal the knots before priming the wood. The idea is that you paint a little of this solution over all the knots on the untreated wood. It acts as a seal to prevent the resin from the knots from discolouring the paint. You wait for at least eight hours (overnight is best) and then start applying primer, undercoat and top coat in the usual manner. And you don't get those pesky yellow knot marks. There's a brush included as part of the lid. The 125 ml tin is enough to treat an awful lot of knots, so a single tin will last for a long time. Knotting Solution contains highly volatile chemicals that need to be disposed of carefully, so it's best to be kind to the environment and your pocket, and keep the unused solution in case you ever need it again.
