There happen to be mixed messages about whether these are vegan or not. Does anyone know if they are vegan or not now?

The ingredients are vegan but there may be trace amounts so they cant say they are vegan 100%.

Can i use it for ganache

The chocolate chips have less cocoa butter than baking squares so they will melt differently. The squares melt smoothly and completely. As a result there will be a slight difference in sauces such as ganache. My grandkids use them on top of pancakes. They do melt. But mostly I will use them in making chocolate chip cookies. The chips retain their shape. Good luck

Can I use these to make hot chocolate?

To be honest I don't know but IbTHINK you could. I am on my second packet and they are like ordinary dark chocolate from a bar except they are in drop form and can be used in cakes and cookies. I have melted them in the microwave for recipes and they are very versatile.

Do these taste sweet or bitter as they are? No baking etc?

They are not bitter. I eat them out of hand all the time or mix them with walnuts and cranberries. Yum.
