Review Quilling is a paper craft in which long strips of paper are coiled, then arranged into decorative shapes--in this case, animals. Master quiller Boden (Miniature Quilling) provides a brief introduction to quilling technique, followed by 20 cleverly designed quilled animals, suitable for use on greeting cards or other decorative objects. Some animals lend themselves easily to quilling. The sheep, for example, features basic round coils in black or white paper representing the curly wool. Others, such as the whimsical hippo crafted from teardrop-shaped coils and the fringed hedgehog, require more creative techniques. The directions are easy to follow, and enlargeable templates provide the basic outline for arranging the quilled paper. VERDICT Getting started with quilling is easy and inexpensive, and Boden's quilled menagerie will appeal to paper crafters with a taste for whimsy. - Library Journal, April 2015 About the Author Diane Boden first discovered quilling in 1982. Shortly after that she joined The Quilling Guild and went on to become a freelance craft tutor, running quilling classes and workshops all over the UK. Recently she and her husband bought J.J. Diane specialises in miniature quilling (working with strips 2mm wide or less) and is known for her meticulous, detailed work and imaginative designs. She is the author of Miniature Quilling (publ.
