Balds Original Wood Balm - Green Top.

I have been using both the red and green top version of Bald's furniture balm for at least the last five years. As a cat owner who also has a lot of wooden furniture, I have found it invaluable when it comes to disguising scratches on wooden furniture.The green topped version of the balm is for use on lighter woods and the red topped one is for darker toned woods. If in any doubt about which to use, I would tend to select the green version as it will make some difference to any wood and, if a darker tone is needed, the red can always be added later.Both balms are liquids that have an attractive smell and are easy to apply; just wipe a small amount over the surface of the wood and gently rub in. The balms don't fill any imperfections in the wood but they colour even deep scratches so that they virtually disappear to the eye. A small amount of the balm will treat a lot of wood so the bottles last for a long time.As well as making scratches infinitely less visible to the eye, the balm also helps to rejuvenate wood that is just tired or dried out, helping to restore the sheen as well as improving the feel of the wood. I use it on polished, waxed and untreated wood with equally good effect and the results last for a long time before another treatment is needed.

Lovely product which seems to go onto most wood easily and soaks in well, bringing depth to the colour. Smells nice in my opinion- not solvent-y at all, more like a soapy scent. I've used it on lots of pieces and I'm really pleased.

Easy to use and brings up tired wood nicely

Very nice product. Easy to paint on with a brush. Absorbs and dries very well. Nice scent too. Adds a little colour but not too much. Can be buffed as well.

This review is fir the green top version which I have used on medium and dark colour woods. I had an old acoustic guitar given to me which was really grimy and covered in dirt and sticky tape and looked really tired. Of course the Balm did not get all the grime and tape off as that needed isopropyl alchohol and elbow grease! Once stripped it looked quite dull and I tried some wax on it but that only gave a mediocre finish. However a few wipes of Balds used quite sparingly really and a polish with a microfibre cloth have given an amazing high gloss finish and got rid of more marks as well. It really is amazing stuff! I also used it on the rosewood fretboard of an electric guitar with fantastic results. My routine is always to clean off any dirt with isopropyl alchohol first and then use Balds to bring back the finish. You only need a quick swig onto a paper towel and wipe over and a little goes a very long way.
