How many pieces in the kit and would it be suitable for my 14 yr old nephew?

the box states 659 pieces... and it would depend on the 14 year old, if im honest... while i probably wouldn't recommend it for most if you nephew is into model making and has already made a fair few and has patience i cant see why not. but this is certainly not a beginners kit. you have to buy the glue, paints and brushes separately, none are included. and it is also a very detailed model, meaning theres alot of small parts, which are delicate to place and easy to lose. ontop of it being a very large model, over 2 feet long! Hope this information helps

What is listed on the box is confusing. I found it easier to search online when I purchased the model & found loads of information on how to build the Bismarck model with the colours to use & mix.

Do you have to paint the kit yourself and what colours do u need to paint it and do u have to get the paint separately

Hi Mrs DThis kit is one of the best out there at the moment for the Bismarck. It will build into a large scale model of the ship and can be a challenge to a person who may not have that much experience with the hobby, I would say though that there is good tips and build instructions on youtube.As for the paint it will indeed need painting but first an undercoat is advisable. You will need a dark grey, light grey, metallic gray, black, a deep red and a light tan or wooden colour for the deck. I would say getting a spray paint for the hull will get you better results. You will have to get these separately I haven't got the box with me as I'm writing this however there should be a paint guide on the side of the box but the instruction will tell you what the whole range of colours that are needed. I would suggest getting an acrylic base paint for these, site like Amazon and eBay do carry the whole range and different manicures.
