ASTB Study Guide 2018-2019: ASTB-E Test Prep and Practice Test Questions for the Aviation Selection Test Battery

The information in this study guide is okay. It would be a great study guide to start with. Unfortunately, I found the Math and Aviation/Naval sections to be extremely lacking. A large portion of the math test is word problems (some of them complicated) and this only goes over the basics. It doesn’t help with thinking through problems, so if math is an issue for you I would suggest additional material. The Aviation/Nautical section also just didn’t have enough information. This section is tough to study for though because you really just need to memorize as many facts as possible.Other than those issues, this book is set up well without all the “fluff” of other study guides. So, yes, it’s a great starting point, but you’re going to need more material in hopes of getting a high score.

It was helpful to be familiar with the structure of the test, and the OAR topics were similar, however the 2nd half of the test dealing with aviation and nautical knowledge was not useful *at all.* I also found multiple ERRORS in the mathematical and mechanical practice question/answers.

I wouldn't say this is the best study guide out there for the ASTB, but it is not too bad. Not all the information provided in the study guide will be relevant, but it helps to build on what you already know. Best thing you can do is to time yourself in order to know how to best prepare yourself for the test.

Sufficient book. I used only this to study and passed for the Marine Corps with a 6-6-6. The questions about Naval history on the actual exam were much more specific than the information provided in the book, so you may need to read up on that somewhere else.

This product was very helpful for me. Everything from the descriptions, to the examples, to the practice tests was very helpful. The descriptions and diagrams were especially helpful. However, I would personally prefer there to be more examples.
