STRICTLY BEDS&BUNKS Celeste High Sleeper Loft Bunk Bed, Solid Pine 4ft6 Double Frame

First off, these guys use an excellent courier company with really good communication that gives you a half day and ultimately a half hour delivery time slot: this really helps and means you're in a good mood when the bed arrives. The bed is flat packed in three boxes, and the sheer number of pieces is quite daunting at first, particularly the hundreds of screws etc, but the instructions are mostly clear (read them all before you start!!!) and once you get your head round it all it's fairly straightforward. Some of the screws are very hard work by hand (in particular the bed slats) so maybe an electric screwdriver would help? The key move when you join the two end boards to the four back rails is interesting and leaves you wishing for several extra hands. It took two of us about three hours to fully assemble this bed, working in a leisurely and incompetent way and having several cups of tea. The end result is an impressive looking loft bed which is actually much sturdier than we were expecting: there is some movement obviously (it's a very top heavy structure of course) but nowhere near as much as we feared and we don't expect we will need to do anything drastic like anchoring it to the wall. We are very pleased with everything: a good product, faultless service and excellent value.

The only reason for the 4 star review is because the instructions are in need of improvement. There are no "steps", just photos and paragraphs with explanations. It can get confusing and you need to pay careful attention when orientating some of the rail pieces. Now the good, the bed is great! Sturdy, package came with extra hardware, well marked pieces. It's great if you want to reclaim the extra for space in your child's room. The improved angled ladder for 2024 is a great improvement. My daughter prefers it to a vertical ladder she had before.

Bed frame arrived on time, on opening the 2 boxes, we found all pieces well colour marked and instructions are ok, It took 2 of us to fully assemble the bed in less than 3 hours, it was relatively straight forward without any stress. The frame seems sturdy enough but we will be securing it it the wall to stop movement. Wood seems of decent quality but time will tell. I would recommend this bed frame and happy with the price paid. If you're not used to flat pack then I would recommend getting someone with knowledge to help you put it up.

I firstly saw this frame at almost £300 and saved it to my wish list. Hence, when I saw on it on sale just under £220 I immediately bought it! What a mistake! This is the worst purchase of the decade!!! £220 wasted! Why did I buy it? I bought it because due to health issues, I began working mostly from home and needed to accommodate my room to include my office and bedroom. Why did I think it would be good? The description says “ The base has been tested to take two people to a weight of 17 stone (108 kilos) each.” I’m only 46kg and I’m single and plan to remain single… so this bunk was in theory “ideal”. Why it turned out to be so bad? It’s Unsafe! The frame is flimsy due the small size of its wood and fixings. Considering the bunk was put together by my friend who’s recently retired from working for his own construction company (building extensions, kitchens and everything in between) and one of his workers… The bunk should be sturdy and solid. However, as soon as it was put together my friend said “this bunk is of very poor quality, it doesn’t stay put or squared. If you want to sleep or work safe you will have to strengthen it. Also, forget about raising the bed to have enough space to stand under it, it will not stand it and it will collapse.” So, gutted that although I’m only just over 5 foot, I would not be able to have my office as I wanted -I prioritised my safety and headed to B&Q to buy extra wood to strengthen the frame. Supposedly, one side support rail on each side should have been enough (as per the B&Q expert). However, to be on the safe side, I bought six cut to measure pine planks (bigger than the ones that come with the bunk) and placed two on either of the bunk’s three sides. I also strengthened the front rail as the little support bar that comes with it is a joke. However, the bunk kept moving and wobbling! I called my friend in tears, who recommended I filled all fixings with welding paste to give them strength… Sadly, despite spending almost as much on extra materials as I have on the bunk itself -the bunk STILL wobbles like crazy! So much so that I have been sleeping on the floor for the past three months and had to contact Amazon to return my double mattress (in fear the frame will come down if any weight was placed on it). So… considering… That my initial idea was to raise the bed to have enough space under it to stand and have my office -but due to the poor quality of the bunk this idea had to be scraped from the start. Also considering that I have not been able to sleep on it due to its safety issues… The best solution would have been to return it. Sadly, a return was not possible because all of its fixings are welded in place! So although the bunk cannot be used, it also cannot be taken apart! Currently, I’m waiting for my friend to come back, use my recently purchased circular saw and cut this “intent of bunk” to get it out of my room and life! I hate the fact that I’ve been sleeping on the floor, and that I have wasted all of that money for nothing! I have uploaded a few pictures and a video to show you how the bunk moves and to what degree it is unsafe. Nevertheless, I recommend you to stay well away from this bunk and seller as the listing does not accurately describe this bunk. I wish I never bought it! I wish I would have contacted the seller straight away to arrange its return! Sadly, wishing doesn’t help me, my health situation, or my “still not ready to work” home office! Hence, I have taken the time to perhaps help you make the same mistake I did.

Super bed, feels nice and sturdy and has created space for my teen to pop her TV and a sofa under so she's not slobbing in bed all the time 😆 good height would fit a shorty wardrobe under. Parts are colour coded at edges making it easy to identify each part. I built it alone with a 2 Yr old 'helping' by using the wall to hold pieces but another set of hands would be useful while placing the 3 side bars in. Can be built in a room the size of the bed plus room for your hand to turn the bolts (or a drill with an Allen key attachment as I used to speed things up) took around 10mins to organise the parts, 30mins to build the frame and then 15mins to screw all the slats on, again all with a handheld drill. Super quality and not much movement once put together. Ladders are at a good angle so don't take up too much space but still easy to climb.

Great prize and great quality for the price. We bought this bed to turn into a gaming bed so ideal size.

The bed frame is great value for money, sturdy but installation took over 3 hours. There is only one spacer provided for ensuring that the slats are equally spaced apart which was the most time consuming part of the installation. Other than that, the bed frame itself is very sturdy and can sleep 2 people, albeit a bit creaky and wobbly (without wall brackets), but is to be expected with the height of the frame
