had an old sledgehammer laying around with a broken shaft just never got round to fixing it. Well got a small job to do and need the hammer so go this cheaper shaft as once job is done will not need the hammer for a while. A bit tight going in to hammer head but with the wedges and the tight fit it will not come flying off and do someone an injuy. The shaft lis not hickory and looks cheap bu i have hammered in forty plus fence posts and there is no sign of damage or weakness. Ideal for small jobs. If you want to use on large jobs then i would suggest you buy hickory or fibershaft.Did you know that in Mississippi USA...You can be fined up to 100$ for using profanity in a public place.

Good quality at a reasonable price.

Although it says it's suitable for 14lb sledge hammers, the tapered section of the shaft was too small for my hammer head.Luckily I was able to cut that bit off and spend time shaping the next part of the shaft to fit.

I had an old sledgehammer head I found in a scrap bin I wanted to use - after cleaning off the rust and polishing It was ready for fitting. The handle seemed nice enough quality - it wasn't branded Silverline. It took a bit of sanding (using a drill sander) to get it to the right size. I hammered the head all the way down to the flared area on the handle then cut off the excess handle protruding out and drove a metal wedge in. The handle did split when driving the wedge in but has held fast. I then poured gorilla wood glue into the top (to add extra strength to the wedge) and let it set. It seems ok and I’m sure it will be ok for the little, light weight garden work i will use it for.

Très bon manche ! Si vous voulez mettre un coin classique en bois, il vous faudra faire la fente avec une scie. Mais rien de bien compliqué. Aucun coin de fournie avec ! Le bois est brut, pas de vernis rien, mais c'est tant mieux cela m'a permis de le traité à ma façon ! Dimension éxact ! Ce manche s'accorde parfaitement avec ma masse de 6.5 kg ! Je recommande.

Have not tested it but seems alright for the price.There was a twig just above where the head will be. Not giving me much trust in the overall quality of the part.

Acheté 2 manches, un pour une masse, l'autre pour une pioche. Manche qui s'emble de bonne qualité, belle finition.Pour la masse, l'emmanchement est trop juste, la masse ne tient pas. J'ai du r'ajouter une douille ce qui à fendu un peu le bois (au niveau de l'emmanchement) vu la durté de celui-ci. Pas de souci, j'ai prévu le coup. Un peu de patte à bois pour combler et voilà sa tiens très bien. A voir après plusieurs utilisations, si la masse ne ce fait pas la malle et si le manche ne casse pas.Pour la pioche, l'emmanchement ne convient pas car beaucoup trop petit. Rien de bien manchant, j'ai coupé l'emmanchement, (bon le manche ce retrouve raccourci d'environ 10cm) passé quelques coups de lime et emboité la pioche de force et fini par mettre une douille (juste au cas ou) comme pour la masse, le manche à fendu. Un peu de pate à bois et hop. Reste à voir après utilisation si tout va bien.Globalement satisfait des manches, dommage qu'il ne soivent pas vendu avec douille ou incert pour parfaitement bloquer l'outil sur le manche.1 étoile en moins car ne s'adapte pas parfaitement à la masse (de 4,5kg) Je ne tiens pas en compte pour la pioche vu que le manche n'ai pas prévu pour à la base.
