Great thread!!!
I've sewn for a LONG time...kids clothes, prom dresses, tailored suits, what have you. I started (home) embroidering around 2010. It is similar in some ways but very different in others. Getting started is mind-boggling. What machine? What software program? What stabilizers? What companies / websites have well digitized designs? And, of course, what brand of thread? And then, what colors to start off with? Choosing the wrong equipment / supplies can be an expensive mistake. Who has money to spend on things that do not work properly? Fortunately, I came across a blog written by a woman who has been in the embroidery business a long time. She has used several brands of thread in her career. Hemingworth is the brand she recommends. After using it, I agree with her. Hemingworth makes embroidery fun!Pros:Plastic cover with removal cap like no other embroidery thread has...protects the thread in storage. The plastic cover aids in the flow of the thread as a person embroiders.Brilliant colors => great looking embroidered designs.Embroiders well with my Pfaff machine.Nice sized spools of thread last a long time. Not really a Con but...Hemingworth makes over 300 different colors...some are very close in shade. Instead of so many similar colors, I wish they made more variegated colors with a combination of colors...not just, for example, a variegated pink or a variegated brown. I just like variety! :D

A good true dark black color.
A true dark, deep black color. I use either black or white for all my piecing so I both colors get used the most. I use the other colors when doing all top stitching/quilting or when doing a satin stitch, which I will also use the same thread for the bobbin. For most of my sewing, I use a 60 wt. poly for bobbin thread (Maxi-Lock 3000 yard cone for $5.69) which works perfectly with Hemmingworth to create a super strong stitch. Maxi-Lock is extremely affordable for a thin poly thread that has a very decent quality given the low cost. You can even use it as a top thread, just keep in mind it will break more frequently than a regular 40 wt. but not that much. I use Maxi-lock a lot when saving money on thread as I trust it enough to give me strong stitches.

Slippery.
It does have a nice shine and feel to it, but it is too silky if you want to do some sort of a wrapping. Threads just keep sliding if not fixed in place, particularly once you get to the second half of the spool. I wish I had gone with cotton thread for this project instead.

Hemmingworth Thread
I love Hemmingworth thread. The colors are wonderful! The individual coverings with the little rubber stopper are terrific. Eventually I will be replacing all my other thread with Hemmingworth.

machine embroidery thread
It is not as shiny as the rayon since it is polly, more of a matted finish & is a tiny bit thicker. The color is a pure black, shows well on the project, no breaks yet, would order again. Came in a timely fashion.

Great thread - will buy again
Great quality thread, and I really like the protective dome. I will purchase more of this brand of thread in the future.BUT where does everyone put the little rubber stopper when you are using this thread to sew? My cats constantly take off with the rubber stopper, so I had to start putting it into my pocket.

Nice colors, breaks in sewing machine sometimes
I bought several different colors of the Hemingworth thread. The colors are vibrant, glossy and good looking, but I find I have more problems with this thread tangling/breaking than similar threads I've used in my sewing machine. I realize these say embroidery thread and they might work a lot better in an embroidery machine. I was hoping I'd get away with using them for regular sewing since they are relatively inexpensive and come in a huge variety of colors.
