The Sims: Hot Date Expansion Pack - PC

This is probably the best Sims add on pack to date. It takes the game to a whole new level - - and this time by offering more than just cool items to add to the house...Though I've been addicted to the game for what feels like a lifetime (remember what life was like before the PC and VCRS ? Can't imagine what life was like before the Sims either !) I have to say that this is the one I've been waiting for... now you can take your Sims out of the house and they can hang out and mix and mingle down town. (This was the one thing I felt missing when I first got the game... that and a pet dog...) Though it would be nice in future versions if it would be possible for them to freely walk around the neighborhood and freely go out visiting, or even play online... this is the best its gotten yet and the Sims was already great.EA Games are brilliant. They take a great idea, and just when it starts to wear thin, come out with an expansion pack that expands the fun. - - This is "playing house" and virtual reality taken to a whole new level.. and although HOT DATE can be mildly risque at times (now, not only can you kiss, but there are different types of kisses to add to that vibrating love bed...) its nice to have a video game that doesn't involve winding labrynths, machine guns, 3 lives, and endless caves and caverns.All in all, this is a must have for the exhuberent Sims-a-haulic.. You'll never watch TV or play Nintendo again !

I have been a big fan of the sims and when I heard of another expansion well excited doesn't cover it.So I max out a charge card and ordered it from one of greatest stores online,Amazon.com.In short the objects are outstanding but you have to tell your sims where to go and what to do the free will play is gone no more sitting back and watching.If your a control freak then this expansion is for you.

Wish I had paid more attention and saw that it is only for Win 98/ME When so many are going to XP you would thing they would make this run on XP. Boy is my daughter disappointed and I will not go back to Win 98. I have an old computer with 98 on it but it is only 400 Mhz. From what I read it may not play on that very well.

The Hot Date Expansion Pack isn't a must. It depends on what you're looking for. Hot Date gives you the option to go Downtown. And it, most importantly, gives your Sims a new place to go. You're able to build your own shops and beaches. So it really depends on what you like, and want to do. As all expansions packs, this one takes up a good amount of room. So be prepared. I give the expansion pack a three because it's nice but not a necessity.

Hot Date provides Sim fans with things that other expansion packs have failed to do before - more interactions and an opportunity to leave your house! That in itself is worth to 30 Simoleans that the expansion pack costs. The downtown area is a lot of fun to look at and interact with - there are many interesting characters to interact with and your neighbors show up there too.Lots of great new items - my particular favorites are the Cuddle Couch (where I have discovered new interactions such as "caress," and "embrace") and the Heart-Shaped Hot Tub (where you can "wash," "cuddle," and "kiss" your date). There are some new decorative elements as well, although not as expansive as Living Large or House Party.The best part of this game,however, was the new interactions. You can ask particular questions now, including if the Sim wants to come home with you. There are too many new ones to list, but here's a few: extreme tickling, growling, checking out, kissing passionately, kissing romantically, etc. etc. Consequently, relationships have become more complex, with the addition of a "long term" relationship bar and a "short term" relationship bar. The latter displays how you're faring with your companion in the short term (fluctuates wildly) and the former is your longer relationship "base," if you will, which is fairly steady. Different combinations on these bars produce different opportunities for social interactions.So why did I give it 4 stars? There seem to be gameplay problems similar to the release of the first game. Remember when it took your Sim 45 minutes to drink a cup of coffee? It now takes a staggering 4 hours to be seated, order and receive your food in a restaurant (I'm not even talking about eating the food). Also, the Downtown scenes are filled with lots of action and people, and that can put a strain on older computers, resulting in some pauses and choppy movement. If you've got a new, powerful computer, this shouldn't be a problem.All in all, this is a great addition to a great franchise. It's a little racy (although I think the pictures are relatively tame, the SOUNDS are surprisingly suggestive), but it is rated TEEN, so your kids aren't going to see anything they haven't seen on TV or Dawson's Creek. I highly recommend it and hope that Maxis comes up with a patch to fix some of the timing problems.

This expansion pack was awesome (back in the day, 2001) when I played the Sims. It was fun to make your Sim people go on dates and fall in love. As I recall, it was fine for teens to play.

This Sims expansion adds the dating element, which is fun. Also added several decor items. I love it, you will too.
