Super Toasty if you start early.
Purchased for a trip to Norway to see the Northern Lights. They work brilliantly if you use them in a certain way. These are the tips that worked for us in temperatures of down to -24.7 Celsius.1. Open the package one hour before you go out it to the cold and place them in a warm place. I believe this is because the heat is generated by a chemical reaction and the warm the ambient air the stronger the reaction.2. Place them in your gloves 10 mins before going out in the cold.3. Once out in the cold try to keep them in the glove. The cold air will stop the chemical reaction.4. If they lose their heat generation in the cold place them both in a front trouser/jean pocket. (your core body temperature will restart the reaction and warmth)(if you put them together they will help each other and you will know when they are ready as one pocket will be toasty)For me it seemed that my husbands pockets where warming than mine as he was able to restart the reaction within 5 mins or so...Once we had figured all this out we managed to keep them going for 6+ hrs and had lovely warm hands.

Good enough....
I bought these as part of my first aid kit that I carry every day. Of course I had to try one out first to see what it was like, so following the instructions, I took it out of the packet and it should heat immediately on contact with air. It actually took about 10 minutes before it had got to full temperature and I have to admit they do produce steady heat (although not the 50-70 decrees C that the packet suggested).I think the biggest difference between these and the 'snap' hand warmers is that these ones provide a constant heat for longer, but not as hot. Where as the 'snap' hand warmers provide more heat faster but not for as long.Would I buy them again? Yes. I think that they do work quite well and I can see myself using them through the winter.

Effective & Eventually Get HOT!
Wanted these for when I'm walking the dog. After several uses found it was best to open them and shake them before placing in mittens an hour before you want to go out. This morning I did not have time so opened them at 8.20am to walk at 9.00am. They were comfortably warm and continued to be for the whole hour. Came home and left them in my mittens, got on and when I put my mittens back on at 12pm, they were hot, almost too hot to hold. I was not out long but they were much hotter than in the morning. Out of interest left them in my mittens when I got back and checked every so often, still warm at 2.45pm.Better in mittens as tried them in my boots and they felt uncomfortable, like your walking on gravel.Only real downside is the cost at £1 each won't be buying anymore but nice to try and they do work.

Mycoal handwarmers
My husband suffers from Renauds and no gloves we have tried can prevent his fingers going numb when out on a cold day. I sent for the Mycoal handwarmers before Christmas. They were reasonably priced and arrived promptly despite the busy Christmas period and we were so grateful. They heat up immediately and really do last for 7 hours. They are getting him through the Winter and if he is just going on a short walk he will only use one. I would still like to find a pair of gloves that work but don't want to make an expensive mistake. So thank you Mycoal for a brilliant service at a cheap price

Nice and HOT
Took these with me to Icelnd and so pleased I did. These are the small size and we put them in our Gloves. I also tuked one in a top shirt pocket. They quickly got up to temperature in aboout 10-15 minutes. We found the best way ti really get them hot was to shake them and keep them in the Gloves or a pocket. If you give them a squeeze you get a boost of heat out of them. Ours lasted about 10 hours so very pleased. Considering the frezzing conditions and gale force winds we felt comfortable.

Not bad
These hand warmers aren't bad but they don't last as long as the 'click hand warmers'. I found that after a couple of uses, they aren't useful anymore. Which might explain why there are ten in a pack. They are useful if going out for a walk but no good for my aches and pains. They do get quite warm, but they aren't for me. That's just my personal preference, as they may be great for someone else.

Okay... Maybe a bad batch
They don't heat "instantly" but do heat fairly quickly. According to other reviews they are around mid 40-60°C. I don't know if mine were faulty as such but they only heated to around 33°C. Not very satisfied but hoping it was just a bad packet. I'll have to see with the next pack.

also does the job
As with my review of the "companion" foot warmer product, this also is an apparently simple device that simply does what it is supposed to do.The obvious difference is that these are a little thicker but, otherwise, they are the same. DO NOT make my mistake of putting them inside your glove in the palm of your hand. They are better if placed inside the glove but on the back of the hand where, as a riding friend pointed out, is where all the veins are!Even doing it "my way" they do provide a benefit but, as with the feet, when riding, the hands aren't doing all that much but your gloves can't be all that thick so that you feel the reins. Therefore, you need the get the maximum out of the pads so the back of the hand is best.Again, even after a two to three hour ride, my hands are just nice and I certainly would not go out in cold weather without using these pads.
