Practical. Versatile. I love this hat!
I was looking for a hat with lights, but one more versatile than the L.L.Bean hat with white light. I read a lot of reviews, and tried this one. I've started wearing this around the house because it's so handy. I can fetch the right canned goods from the dark basement shelves. I can easily find a hiding cat. And I've got superb task lighting. I don't leave home without it. It's a comfort to know I've got a light at the ready if I should need it.The white lights and red lights each have their own dedicated switch. I can use them in combination, or separately. There are 2 white leds on the edge of the brim, and two white lights under the brim. Their switch is a 3 way, allowing each type to be used independently or together at same time. This yields 2 angles of white light, and 3 intensities. Very handy for beading, computer repair, car work, taking the compost out at night, you name it.There are two red lights under the brim with a simple on/off switch. The red is awesome for seeing in the dark without killing my night vision. Great when canoeing, telescoping the night sky or glancing at a map while driving at night. And I keep it on my night stand. I can stealthily navigate the house at night without waking up my husband, the cats or the dogs. The unstructured cap is a little thin, but I prefer it because it breathes and it folds nice, saving space in my backpack. When it's cold out, I just layer by putting a knit cap on top of it. This lets me enjoy the visor while staying warm. I'm not big on fashion (I care more about utility), but when I do the knit hat thing with this cap, I invariably get tons of compliments from other women on how much they like my hat!The cons, for me (a female) is the way the hat sits on my head, and the velcro closure. Not being a 'low profile ladies' cap, this hat slides on my head usually ending up too low on my forehead. Almost on my eyebrows. If I put my hair in a ponytail, and pull the back of the cap over it, or pull my ponytail through the 'hole', I can compensate for this and the hat sits firmly. The velcro closure sometimes catches my hair. I will probably remove the velcro and replace it with a brass buckle off one of my old hats. This hat is worth the effort to modify the closure. These two cons are minor annoyances and are more than offset by the wonderful versatility of this hat.

Great lighting, but could fit better
I had a 5 LED Panther Vision hat, but on my old hat the green and white LEDs are wired through the same switch. The sequence on the old hat goes:First press - Turn on green LEDs under the brimSecond press - Turn off green LEDs and turn on the white LEDs under the brim.Third press - Turn on white LED on brim (three white LEDs on).Fourth press - All off.I primarily use my hat for night fishing, which meant the white LEDs would kill my night vision whenever I turned the hat on to tie knots. Since there was only one battery pack, dead batteries meant no light at all. This hat is a definite improvement, since it has separate switches for the red and white LEDs. There are two battery packs, so if one set goes dead you still have the other. The switch sequence goes:Red:First press - Red LEDs under brim come on.Second press - Red LEDS turn off.White:First press - White LEDs under brim come on.Second press - White LEDs on edge of brim come on, white LEDs under brim go off.Third press - White LEDs on edge of brim and under brim come on.Fourth press - All off.The old hat is a structured cap, and it's a bit too small for my head unless I cut my hair very, very short. I wanted to try an unstructured hat to see if it would fit better, but no luck. It's also too small for my head. It feels like it doesn't come down far enough to sit really secure. I feel like a kid wearing a beanie. The old hat has a two-piece velcro adjustment strap. On this hat, it's one long piece looped through a wire loop, and it's just barely long enough to fit around my skull.I'll continue to use the new hat, but I really wish Panther Vision offered the same LED/switch configuration in their visors because I'd get that instead.

These hats are great!
I have a number of these hats now. I like the navigator for when I fly at night the red LED lights are very useful and when on the ground the white ones provide help with the tasks of securing by lightning the aircraft work area. It also worked for lighting the area i was working in under the car for repairs in the dark.

Works great! Nice light!
Use this on the job as an electrician. Love that it has lights in and under the brim. Lights up work in my hands and above my head. Wish it was a bit more comfortable, as the material on my forehead chafes a bit when I sweat. Only had it for a couple of weeks, but use it everyday.

Great Hat!
Great hat, I use it for walking after dark, the red light is great for keeping your night vision, I use when I am photographing at night. It makes working in a dark area so much easier, both hands are free and you don't have a heavy light attached to you head. Love it! I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the lights in the front of the bill are not shielded completely and shine back at you somewhat and can make it hard to see beyond the lighted area. I use it all the time.

I am an amateur astronomer and I'm always looking for a good red flashlight
I've used PowerCaps in the past, but this one takes it to a whole new level with lights for both close in work as well as "floodlights" in the brim. Not to mention the red lights. I am an amateur astronomer and I'm always looking for a good red flashlight. Now I have one on my head with a separate switch, so i don't have to worry about accidentally activating the white ones and ruining my night vision. I love it!

Just great!! Good for night fishing
Just great!! Good for night fishing, close up work (plumbing, wiring, etc.), using the grill at night to check the meat, etc. Highly recommend. It's lightweight and easy care. In spite of the batteries being stored in the hatband it isn't noticeably uncomfortable and those batteries last a long time. A MUST HAVE. One new variety should be created that has a mesh top so the hat breathes better in high heat humidity situations
