Sangean WR-11 Black

Superb sound, both music and spoken word. Neat, retro design, no silly digital buttons you will never use. If you are in a good reception area for both FM and AM this is probably for you.On the downside, being in a reception black spot, we found it difficult to tune in more than a couple of FM stations, even with an external FM antenna, while my 40 year old Sony ICF multiband receiver rolls them in without difficulty (tho' admittedly that cost over £100 all that time ago!) This is not a particularly sensitive receiver, but that must be balanced against the quality of the sound.AM is the biggest disappointment as it has no provision for an external aerial, this being only on the USA version (why? surely not an expensive feature?) Being located in a valley, I couldn't receive a single station in day time here. I did ask at the time of purchase about that but just got told that sometimes they did, and sometimes they didn't, so 'wait and see'. Disappointing, but not a reason to send it back.On balance, if you want a good radio for a kitchen or lounge that gives you quality listening, this is good value for money. I will be erecting a roof top FM aerial to bring in the more difficult stations here.

I bought this radio because it has an external aerial socket. The sound is great. The controls are simple, like in the old days, and with a good aerial, it sounds great.
