Took me long enough... and then I laughed and cried.
I bought this for my Kindle back when the author, someone I know personally, first published it. And there it sat, waiting for me to find some time to dive in.That time finally came this last month when, three years after the fact, I opened the book around 10am. What followed were two consecutive nights of me reading until 1am so I could keep turning the pages and learning what would happen to these female characters that Michelle so vividly brought forth from the page. You'll identify with them, whether honing in on one particular woman that reflects you perfectly or drawing a mosaic from a combination of them to see yourself in their lives. You'll laugh at how different they all are, from looks to language, and how real their relationships feel.Enjoy. Oh, and I think I'm Veronica.

The beautiful story weaves each woman's individualism with their common bond
The value of friendship, the importance of celebrating our connections, and just as important, the things that make us unique. The Reel Sisters gives a heartfelt look into the lives of several women who, from the outside, would not appear to have much in common, yet have an amazingly strong bond. The beautiful story weaves each woman's individualism with their common bond, (although new to some!), fly fishing with fierce loyalty and an appreciation for the small things! Great weekend read!

Female Friendships With A Hook
Five women bond over the sport of fly fishing. I liked that they were very different people who might not have become friends except that they enjoyed time on the river together. I learned a lot about fly fishing, and enjoyed the setting in Colorado. I've visited Salida and the Wet Mountain Valley. It's beautiful country! I hope there's a second book to tell us what happens to the characters after the shocking ending.

I loved reading this book
I loved reading this book. As a female flyfisher I was impressed with the knowledge about fly fishing but even more important the bonding of the characters and how they built their friendship around their love of the sport. I didn’t want it to end....

A wonderful book about hardships and friendships!
Even though this book is set around fly fishing, it is more about a group of women whose lives are intertwined through fly fishing. You don't have to know anything about or enjoy any type of fishing to enjoy this book. It takes us through the stories of 5 very different women and shows us how true friendship can sustain us through all of life's ups and downs. I'd highly recommend to women of any age who would enjoy a "feel-good" story, and maybe even a few tears!

A fairly realistic portrayal of life and friendship
I enjoyed this book. At its core, the story demonstrated how love can bond people despite minor disagreements, true fights, and private pain. It was a straightforward and beautiful read that touched and nourished my soul. It was fun to learn about fly fishing and the passion that it brings about in all kinds of people. What was even better: I could follow along even on those parts even though I know next to nothing about fly fishing. It was a great story that many adults could enjoy.

I loved this!
A great read! Five different women with five different background stories. Four have been friends for a long time, one is new to the group. But they all come together and support each other through good times, and tragedies. I'm not a fisherperson, but enjoyed the descriptions of fly fishing and the joy it brought them.

A gentle story of life, relationships and fly fishing
I thoroughly enjoyed this story of five women of different generations and walks of life, brought together by their shared love of fly fishing. The story unfolds through each of their points of view as they journey through their individual trials. Rose is the oldest, she has lived a lifetime by the river and has much to teach the others and still more to learn; Veronica is a coach, her husband a chef and restauranteur; Sophie has a farm and greenhouses and is reluctant to form relationships outside of their group, particularly male relationships; Amanda is a young mother of two and a military wife coping on her own through long deployments; Melody is a searcher, looking for her identity and purpose. Fly fishing is not only the tie that binds them, it is the salve for their wounds and the metaphor for their lives. The Reel Sisters reminds me of the lovely human stories told by Maeve Binchey. If this is your cup of tea, I highly recommend The Reel Sisters!

This book had beautiful themes like the friendship and care between a group ...
This book had beautiful themes like the friendship and care between a group of women. The women are grouped together with a common interest, fly fishing. As a person who does not fish, I was actually fascinated by the descriptions of this type of fishing and enjoyed the diversity of the characters. Overall I thought the book was good and I did enjoy reading it. I think it is probably best suited to female readers, given the strong feminine themes.
