Sky MINI SD501 Wireless Connector

This is a brilliant little Gizmo and very very easy to setup and connect. I tried the WPS option but since I have three networks running off 2 routers it did not work instantly so I decided to connect using my usual network password.One of the reviews suggests that you can only do this using Capital letters which spooked me a bit as mine involves a lot of lower case and I was not looking forward to a) accessing the router and changing the password and the b) changing all the access passwords on several PC's, Phones etc.and then incurring the wrath of my kids as their various phones, laptops etc. would not connect.Fear not! The SKY controller does allow you to use lower case. Just press the button quickly to scroll through the 3 different upper case letters and then the lower case letters.All told, if I hadn't fiddled with the WPS option it would have taken 4 minutes to be up and running following the simple instructions that are printed inside the box.Marvellous - the only problem now is that my daughter will fill the disk with even more trashy American television from Catch TV!Oh yes - almost forgot! The DPD delivery service is amazing and the tracking is almost in real time. I just pity their drivers if the stop for a cup of coffee:-)

Fantastic little gadget , I have SKY HD in the Lounge with the catch up TV and I have SKY HD in the bedroom but I could not get any of the catch up programmes and purchasing the this little gadget is so easy , I plugged it in to the back of the Sky Box, pressed the reset button on the downstairs broadband modem then pushed the reset button on the new wireless connector and it connected it straight away , it is sometimes a little slower at recording programmes than the main one in the lounge but this is because it is not so close to my broadband but if you record something whilst watching something else it pops up on the screen when it is available and best of all it did not cost much at all , Brilliant

It's smaller than my previous one, connects via USB so doesn't need a power cable and set up in seconds. I was downloading a box set before my tea was cold. Fantastic!The reason for the missing 5th star is nothing to do with the product, but the delivery method.The box it comes in is a feat of packaging design and would fit through any letterbox. Even when wrapped in the standard Amazon corrugated card, it is the size of a thin book. Royal Mail would have delivered it with ease. Had I known it would be delivered by courier (Amazon logistics. Who they?), I might have shopped elsewhere. The courier's first attempt was on a Friday. Like a large number of Amazon customers, I was out at work. They left a card (WHY? It did not require a signature and would have fitted through the letterbox) and said they'd try again the next day. There was no address of the depot given so no option to pick up myself. I telephoned the number and instructed them to leave the package in my porch, since I am not prepared to give up my precious Saturday waiting in. The email acknowledging this arrived within minutes, saying it would be delivered by 21.00! As it happened I was in. The courier rang the doorbell, so presumably had not received the instructions to leave it in the safe place.Amazon: go back to Royal Mail, they know what they're doing and the depot is nearby for most of us.

I already have a sky wifi connector for our main sky+ box in the lounge, we have an additional sky box in the bedroom and wanted to connect this to on demand as well. I searched Amazon and found this one. It was delivered very quickly and I am very impressed! It's the newer version so please be careful as it's not compatible with some older Sky boxes. It comes with on USB connector which you plug into the back of your sky box and the other end into the connector, there is no mains lead as this neat little box takes it's power from the USB lead. I clicked on my router name and entered the password (you can connect it by clicking the WPS button on your router and on the connector - I decided to connect manually) and hey presto it was connected and it works like a dream, Sky on demand and catch up TV in the bedroom! Very pleased!

I recently bought this item and is very worthwhile as allows On demand without lots of wires running through house highly recommend product. However the product didn;t arrive quickly but was within the alloted timeframe and was actually cheaper from Sky itself ( but added it to a Amazon order). as a result gave it a 3 on the ratings it was as it said slightly more expnesive (few Quid) and delivered within reasonable time.I have now just spent my Friday night taking 3 phone calls from the Manager at Sky Amazon complaining about a 3 rating and demanding I change it to 4 or 5 and then implied if I didn't then why should they give me anything but a mediocre follow up customer service or guarantee if something went wrong with the product. I found his tone threatening and when I asked to speak to the manager he told me he was the manger. I think this is an appalling level of customer service from such a large company

Really pleased - worked straight out of the box and hasn't dropped signal once in the four days since delivery, some feat with our thick walls. The signal meter shows a really healthy signal.The previous adapter had just failed, and had always needed a power adapter, as the USB port in our 5-year-old Sky box didn't put out the necessary power. For this reason, I was concerned that this new adapter may not work, as it has no provision for any alternative power source to USB. Thankfully, no problem.The previous adapter had begun to lose connection with increasing regularly, and this now feels rock-solid. It also supports 2.4ghz and 5ghz - another bonus.
