Candy to the ears!
I was a teenager when Spice Girls emerged into our lives, went absolutely viral and were a worldwide sensation. Back then I was familiar with their hits, but never really paid any special attention to their Music, nor did I know what good productions were. This CD brought me back 20+ years and for the very first time I have paid full attention to Spice Girls' Music and what an incerdible Music they have created. This CD is a candy to the ears! hit after hit after hit, all so very well produced, I can't belive these songs were created such a long time ago. Every song on this Album could have been released today and still be considered as a MAJOR hit. That's how good Spice Girls' Music was and still is. To anyone who wasn't even born when all these hits were released - don't go and buy this CD, RUN! and to those, who like myself, were teenagers when these song were hits on the Radio, you must add this CD to your collection, for the good Music, for the Nostalgia.

A pop and social phenomenon (4.5*)
When Brit awards were to be handed out in 1997, even Liam Gallagher of Oasis (if I remember well) was convinced that Spice Girls would win the award for Best British Single – with "Wannabe". And it materialised. Although formally the girl group brought nothing much new on the pop scene, they were surrounded by top producers and songwriters of the day. The concept was forethought to the smallest detail, all the girls had their nicknames (So-and-So Spice) and the fan frenzy followed. The idea probably exceeded all expectations; still in the end, it was a bit shortlived. The albums were rather uneven in quality and the whole group was sticking together more for marketing reasons than for anything else. Still, their best songs are a good representation of the second half of the 1990's pop and their power speaks volumes with the fact that they had the coveted Christmas No1 spot in the UK chart for three years in a row (1996-98). This compilation is a keeper, although the two added (2007) songs, previously unreleased, are real duds.
