Puss in Boots is a computer-animated adventure film starring Antonio Banderas, Billy Bob Thornton and Salma Hayek, and written by Tom Wheeler. The film is a prequel to the Shrek series and follows the character Puss in Boots on his adventures before his first appearance in Shrek 2 in 2004. Accompanied by his sidekicks, Humpty Dumpty and Kitty Softpaws, Puss is pitted against Jack and Jill, two murderous outlaws who discover an ancient power which threatens the world. Long before he even met Shrek, the notorious fighter, lover and outlaw Puss in Boots becomes a hero when he sets off on an adventure with the tough and street smart Kitty Softpaws and the mastermind Humpty Dumpty to save his town. This is the true story of The Cat, The Myth, The Legend…The Boots. To provide music to suit the character of the swaggering Puss and the voices of arch-Latino Banderas and Hayek, composer Henry Jackman used traditional Latin instruments and flavours, blending Spanish guitars and Latin percussion with full orchestra. Jackman’s recent film scores include X-Men: First Class for director Matthew Vaughn and the animated feature Winnie The Pooh.In addition, two tracks feature the music of sensational Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela. The duo have become a worldwide phenomenon for their unique style of express, percussive acoustic guitar playing, bringing them huge popularity with live audiences and record buyers alike.

Can’t stop playing it!!!!
What a fantastic CD, lovely music and added bonus of having Rodrigo y Gabriela on some tracks. When you listen to the tracks you can visualise the scenes from the film. I and my daughters love it!

Immensely enjoyable!
Even if you are not a dedicated fan of animated films, this is a must see. This is the first film I have watched twice in a row for a long time, for pure enjoyment factor. The characters are excellently voiced, the animation is spellbinding, and the soundtrack is first class!

Henry Jackman Shows His Versatility With This Fantastic Hispanic Flavored Score
I'll admit it, I winced and cringed when I heard Dreamworks was doing a Puss In Boots spin-off. The word "really?" was in my head every time I saw a trailer or a poster. Then I was invited to a screening of the film, and I was incredibly impressed. No joke. I really enjoyed the movie. I love Antonio Banderas and I love Henry Jackman, and I guess they played to my good side. The movie was an awesome fairytale western. The jokes were funny and on point and it even had a great amount of character. The story exists completely outside of the Shrek universe and that's a strong point. The music is also great as well. Henry Jackman shows his versatility by tacking a hispanic themed score. The music is full of great character riffs and has tons of character of its own. It plays homage to Ennio Morricone now and then. While I was expecting Harry Gregson-Williams to be onboard I think it stays with the idea of keeping this story completely removed from the world of Shrek. Jackman's tunes are fun and quirky and have tons of energy. The now incredibly popular Rodrigo y Gabriela lend their guitar talents to the score and two songs of theirs are used in the film as well. I must mention that the songs are not original and are from their first studio album. They do add a good deal of flair to the musical soundscape though just as they did for Knight & Day and Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. There is also lots of score included on this release. The running time of the CD is 65-minutes, and when you consider the film is a brisk 90-minutes that is a lot of score we have. The whole experience is just great. Henry Jackman is really growing into his own and with X-Men: First Class under his belt we know he can tackle big studio tentpoles.Puss In Boots was a nice treat. It's not as strong as most of the animation films out there, but we haven't seen Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek have onscreen chemistry like this since Desperado. Jackman's score is stunning and filled with energetic flair. Rodrigo y Gabriela add a touch of culture to the whole experience and make this an incredibly wonderful score.

A Perfect Match!
If you've loved the movie as much as I did, which is to a feverish pitch, you'll definitely love this soundtrack. This is a lively and exciting collection, and it is a tantalizing way to relive the very memorable grand adventure of Puss in his first solo movie. If you haven't seen the movie, and opt to buy this soundtrack first, it would still make a fine addition to any music or movie soundtrack enthusiast's collection. The music of Puss in Boots is very distinct and it portrays Puss's personality and his story perfectly! in every riff and beat; without at all sounding mundane or nondescript, as most orchestra-centric soundtracks these days tend to sound. The upbeat dance tracks are especially delightful, and they compliment the other tracks which go from suspenseful, to heart-wrenching, to slow and pleasantly ambient, even almost lulling, but still, never losing its' personality and stays engaging, passionate, fun-filled & endearing, and is really an overall "feel good" experience, just as the movie is, from start to finish. I guess the only thing that left me wanting is that the catchy song towards the end of the movie that segued to the end credits is not included here, and I was really looking forward to having that song too, as it is part of the Puss in Boots soundtrack after all. Still, it's a very good buy, and a must-have for all Puss in Boots lovers out there! The Soundtrack Of Puss In Boots includes 24 tracks, composed by Henry Pryce Jackman, featuring Rodrigo Y Gabriela. Excluding the song at the end of the movie at the beginning of the end credits, which is entitled "Americano" by Lady Gaga.

Wild!....
When I saw the movie, I fell in love with the score. I do realize that some of it was something similar to the recent Zorro movies, it had a quaility of its own that was more than a mere copy. "The Giant's Castle" had a beautiful lullaby quality. "Jack and Jill" was appropriately sinister but with overtones of humor."I was always there", was striking when Humpty reveals his plans. The most rousing though was "Chasing Tail" and "Diablo Rojo" when Puss and Kitty meet and get into a dance fight, and then later "Hanuman" when they finally got the Golden Goose and were celebrating their victory. Yes, Puss was a bad kitty, but not that bad, and the score helped to make a wonderful funny movie.

Good driving music
Great instrumental music for long road trips. Missed the dance sequence music from the movie. It was not on the CD. Will keepit my collection for long distance trips.
