Will Hay, Oh Mr Porter
Will Hay.....Oh Mr Porter This is a comedy film from 1937 starring Will Hay with Moore Marriott and Graham Moffatt. William Porter is an incompetent railway worker who should have been sacked but cant because of his family connections higher up in the railway. He is then sent to a very remote northern island railway station called Buggleskelly. He finds things a 'mess' there and attempts to reinstate order to the station, failing miserably! While doing this he 'loses' a train to a load of gun runners. After flying around on some windmill sails (!) he eventually regains control of the train with the gun runners inside and 'drives' the train to a station where the police are waiting for them. Overall its a very funny film and definitely worth watching.

Dr Twist goes inside
Once more Will Hay plays shifty schoolmaster benjamin Twist. Out of a job, he goes for an interview as a headmaster, and through a series of mistakes ends up as a prison governor. His attempts to reform prison life are hilarious. Moore Marriott as a convict who never stops tunnelling and Graham Moffat as a prison guard give strong suppirt as always. This is one of Will Hay's most amusing films.

Work of Genius
Regarded as Will Hay's best film, it is a classic of British comedy. The humour is steady all the way through, with some brilliant set pieces climaxing with a classic sequence with the three idiots (Will Hay, Graham Moffat and Moore Marriot) climbing out along the sails of a windmill which leads to a wonderful train chase. It is beautifully constructed and the director Marcel Varnell was at his best.

Will Hay films
Iguess you wouldn't buy a film like this if you didn't know what you were getting in advance. The film is a classic piece of British comedy and made to the standards of the day. From a historical perspective the opening sequence the footage of the inaugiration of the then new streamline express, "silver link", makes it worth having in it's own right.

Fisticuffs beware.
This is a classic farce and is good fun for all the family, however just be aware that there is a fair bit of shouting and fisticuffs - so little ones might be a bit frightened. The DVD quality is excellent given the age of the film and a good choice for a Saturday afternoon.
