Vinegar Syndrome did an amazing job with the restoration of this film. For decades, all releases have been using the same release that uses post-production colored filters that to me look a bit overdone now by comparison, and was incredibly low quality. The Blu-ray release was remastered using the original negatives, meaning all colors and lighting are from the shots as they were taken, and in 1080p it is far more effective at drawing you in. Now, color and how it is used is very important in this movie, so I would like to ease any concern that this remaster diminishes that in any way; because of the way the shots were lit, the colors are still present and, in my opinion, much more tasteful.This is the definitive release of Decoder, however I should mention since I have both: the DVD comes with the soundtrack, while the Blu-ray does not. A crime to be sure -- the soundtrack is great.Genießen!

THIS MOVIE IS ALL ABOUT MANIPULATION. THROUGH TV AND RADIO AND... OH YEAH : MUSIC . REMEMBER ALL THE " IMAGES " IN THE LIQUOR ADS IN MAGAZINES ? WE ARE BOMBARDED WITH SOUNDS DAILY. BUT... WHAT IS REALLY HIDING WITHIN THE LAYERS ? THIS MOVIE EXPLORES THE REALITIES OF WHAT WE HEAR... AND... WHAT WE " HEAR " SUBCONSCIOUSLY . WELL MASTERED , REMASTERED AND FRIGHTENING .

Almost forgotten film exploring the themes and proposed artistic methods of Burroughs. Get it while you still can! I was shocked to find a sealed DVD copy.

Omigod, there's so much extra stuff on this DVD, i don't regret having to replace my VHS tape. Love it!

Ich habe schon sehr lange nach diesem Film gesucht, von dem schon viel gehört, ihn aber noch nie gesehen habe, und bin froh, dass diese subversive Underground-Perle nun endlich auf DVD erhältlich ist. Der Einsatz von seichter Dudelmusik in Fast-Food-Ketten und an anderen öffentlichen Orten zur Verhinderung des allgemeinen Volksaufstands - ein Gedanke, der bis heute nichts von seiner Aktualität verloren hat. Ganz offensichtlich wurde "Decoder" mit minimalem Budget gedreht, doch fehlendes Budget macht Regisseur Muscha mit symbolhaften Bildern und Footage von Demonstrationen wett. Jedenfalls ist "Decoder" alles andere als filmisches Fast-Food. Leider hat der Zahn der Zeit ziemlich an der Filmkopie genagt, so dass wohl auch die Abtastung nicht mehr so ganz funktioniert hat und ständig ein grünlicher Schimmer am rechten Bildrand erscheint, was sich aber verschmerzen lässt. Aufgrund dieser Abstriche bei der Bildqualität gibt's von mir auch "nur" 4 Punkte.

Dieser Film atmet in jeder Sekunde grosse Kunst.Offensichtlich übersteigt dies meinen begrenzten Horizont bei weitem.Die Bildqualität ist nicht so dolle, aber das stört mich nicht, weil ich eigentlich nichts von dem Gezeigten wirklich sehen möchte.Immerhin löst dieses Lichtspiel bei mir Emotionen aus:es macht mich agressiv.Im Erstsemester Filmwissenschaften hätte man wiederholen müssen für diesen Murks.Ist ja zum Glück alles Geschmackssache - meiner ist es definitiv nicht.
