Bought for pennies plus P+P is spectacular value especially when all I wanted was a single track.So for the Whammies still out there, here's what YOU need to know.A comprehensive discography you will of course be very familiar with, remastered, sparkling and bright for the MP3 generation listening, BUT - and it's a great big one, if you ARE a WHAM fan seek out "THE FINAL" which is the more correct collection of their repertoire as you knew them in the 1980's.Two key reasons One - FINAL includes numbers associated with WHAM that were George Michael solo relases, where BEST OF lists only stuff badged as the duo, therefore sidestepping the stratospheric hit CARELESS WHISPER and the thoughtful DIFFERENT CORNER. Second Michael, as always tormented by the guilt of having made a hill of beans from selling bubblegum to 10 year olds, re-visits and frequently re-mixes the parts that didn't touch the soul the first time.Ultimately BEST OF is the more mature, THE FINAL is the more authentic. You choose....

The tenure in Wham catapulted especially George Michael (but also Andy Ridgeley) to the golden echelon of British (world) pop-music in their early 20s. What's interesting after all these years: these songs are still very good and even the arrangements do not sound too dated. And Wham – it was not only their biggest hits "Everything She Wants", "Last Christmas" and "Wake Me Up..." – all songs merit the place in this compilation. When tracks such as "Wham Rap" are used in a commercial in 2020s, they can still cause quite a stir! Every song would deserve a special mention. And what is also interesting, in comparison with current minimalistic pop with songs often shorter than three minutes, Wham hits many times take up more than 4.5-5 minutes and you never get bored!

Que faut-il retenir de ce best of ? Je vais vous le dire : tout simplement un moment de pur bohneur ! On y retrouve les morceaux qui ont émaillé notre adolescence dans un un esprit à la fois rythmé et festif.J"évoquerai bien entendu les inévitables : Wake me up before you go go, Wham Rap, I'm your man, Freedom, Club Tropicana, The edge of Heaven etc.. sans omettre pour celles et ceux qui sont plus nostalgiques : Last Christmas, If you were there et autres.En revanche on ne peut que déplorer l'absence du fameux slow sur lequel de nombreux couples se sont formés dans les discothèques et ailleurs : Careless wishper.Malgré le temps qui s'écoule inexorablement, ces titres n'ont pas pris une seule ride. On ne peut une fois de plus, qu'exprimer notre gratitude à George Michael et son comparse Andrew Ridgeley.Pour les générations futures qui voudront connaître le fabuleux parcours du groupe Wham! cette compil est un très bon moyen initiatique pour commencer a se pencher sur la carrière de ce groupe britannique qui a bousculé et revolutionné la musique pop du début des années 80 chez nos chers voisins d'Outre-manche pour ensuite s'étendre dans toute l'Europe.
