Mad Max [DVD] [Region 1] [NTSC]

After watching the fourth movie which I thought was brilliant, I ventured into the rest of the franchise. This was supposed to be iconic in its day, but it was so dated and to be rated as science fiction betrays the description. This is hardly an illusion to a nuclear incident. Its a very boring, slow story of cops and car chases. However it does introduce the viewer to Max.The upside is the next two sequels are very Good and each one better until number four which is on my repeat watching list. They are all inherently different but do follow the storyline of Max in a post apocalyptic world. They are worth watching. This was not.

I understand that it was influential and made with a tiny budget - but taken as a whole it's just a bad movie. Mean-spirited and bleak, with two-dimensional characters and unconvincing villains.Although I'm also not a fan of the sequels, they at least had an interesting aesthetic and colourful, comic book characters. The first one doesn't even have this going for it.

Very disjointed, very poor acting, generally very poor quality throughout. The lack of 'big name' actors didn't bother me, as they just get in the way of the story and action, but these second rate actors were more like fifth rate !! It was so bad that I couldn't even be bothered to finish the film - 25 mins was enough punishment for me.

The brilliant, true original Mad Max movie that totally beats the rest. Tells the heart-rending tale of how Max became Mad. Some incredible car/bike chase scenes, genuinely menacing baddies in a way that only the Aussie's know how, and a superb performance from a 23-year-old Mel Gibson at its centre.

I enjoyed it. Obviously it's violent. It has that 70s style to it that films now seem to have lost. Whether that style is actually good or people just feel nostalgic, I don't know. Also how ridiculously handsome is a young Mel Gibson.

Unbelievable how dated this now feels but I suppose it is now the best part of 40years old , just a lot more disjointed than I remembered and the sound track starts to grate a little. Persuaded my 17 year old son to watch the "classic" rather than Fury Road and started to regret it 15 mins in!Wish I had decided to just remember it as been a great film, the saying never meet(or revisit) your Hero's could not be more apt,

Beautiful classical movie. Likely not the best chapter of the Mad Maximilian Kaminsky story, but climatic road movie, explaining the genesis of the further plots.

One of the worst films I’ve seen, only watched it to the end because I paid for it. Can’t believe I paid £3.49 to watch this film
