Tears on the Dancefloor- Crying At The Disco

Great album; mediocre re-release
I really loved the original version of Tears On The Dancefloor. I bought this version as a physical CD complement to my previous download version. I'm skeptical that the 4 new songs add much; in the age of 7" singles, they would have just been b-sides.

You can’t go wrong with this CD!!!!
Wonderful CD!! I know that I am very late to the game, but I recently discovered Steps and immediately loved them! This CD is an excellent return to new music after the group reunited. There are many great songs on this project. I highly recommend.

Nice reissue from the original album!
Good reissue, but I wish they would have added the extended remixes to it. Big mistake as a collector's piece. Still good extra tracks.

And I thought you were all overreacting.
I've read some negative reviews about this record and I thought to myself: "They must be overreacting. The quality can't be so bad". A guy told the "original release wasn't good either" but I have the record and it sound fine. Other said that "the guy who mastered this should be taken outside and shot" and I laughed because this guy was very emotional about Steps. So, I've just got the item and start playing and it was fine. Suddenly I start hearing a sort of hiss and I was like: ˜Is that from the music?" I come close to the speaker and hear Claire's voice failing. I thought: "Did she start smoking or something?" then the whole song started to fail and hiss.In that moment I thought it was related to a dirt stylus or something wrong with my speakers. Nope. It's the record. Think a dirt needle playing a record and digitalize the sound with artifacts. Pleasant, isn't? On both records on both sides. It's hard to describe how it sounds, but it's not acceptable. It's not an audiophile thing. It's a defect. Amazon should stop selling this. They should recall this record. I think it's not related to the mixing itself but the coating they used to make the gold and the silver color on the record that's screwing up things. It sounds like there's an issue with the audio "capture" from the record to the needle. WHERE'S QUALITY CONTROL? DIDN'T ANYONE LISTEN TO THIS BEFORE RELEASING?And I thought you were all overreacting. This was the fast return I've made at Amazon since the year 2000. Don't buy this. It's defective.

Terrible sound quality
Why oh why oh why didn't I read the reviews on this 1st, the pressing of this from what must be the worst sounding master ever, the right channel in particular is so distorted through the high range, I thought at first it was a problem with my equipment after testing many records came to conclusion it was this album, then read the reviews, so annoyed as just wanted a bit of nostalgia as can just play from Spotify if needed, clearly waste of time returning as all the same judging by reviews, oh well

Highly anticipated flawless comeback album!
Wow where do I start with this review?! I have been a big Steps fan for years. When I heard they were releasing new music in 2017 I was filled with excitement but also a bit of apprehension. Could any new music ever live up to to their nostalgic, classic hits? Well I'm pleased to say yes! Their debut single 'Scared Of The Dark' was an excellent choice, it had the classic steps sound but had also been tweaked to sound slightly more current. My favourite track on the album is 'Glitter & Gold'. For some reason this reminds me of 'Loves Got a Hold On My Heart'. I do wish 'Glitter and Gold' had been released as a single with a music video and performed at their concert as it is an absolute banger! With this album although the girls voices are still more prevelant than the boys, you can definitely hear vocals from Lee and H more! 'Space Between Us' is a great example of this and remains one of my favourites songs on here also. I am glad Lee was given the chance with this album to show his capabilities. Firefly is the only song I dont particularly like on this album, just because I found it a bit too repetitive and generic. As expected theres many songs on this album where Claire's vocals are just outstanding with hitting those high notes. Steps and their management team spent a long time carefully considering how to get this album right and their patience, hard work and loyalty to staying true to themselves and their fans, but also moving forward with todays music really shows! Even though I am a big Steps fan I would not be afraid to say if this album was disappointing ( I will happily say I am not keen on Tragedy or Stomp which were their two biggest hits back in the day!) but I am really glad this wasnt the case. I love the cover of this album too as it is a nod to their first album 'Step One'. 2017 was the perfect time for Steps to release a brand new album marking 20 years since they started, and wow didnt they get it absolutely spot on!!!

Vinyl format = the audio equivalent of video interlacing
After buying the original vinyl release and being very disappointed with the sound quality, I wasn't expecting the deluxe edition to be the crispest sounding, and it isn't.That being said, I don't think it sounds any worse than the original blue vinyl, and in some places may sound a little better. The BIG issue here is how digital the vinyl sounds. The quieter passages of music are quite crisp, but the moment the beats really kick in, the vocals end up sounding robotic. It basically sounds like the audio equivalent of video interlacing.I still think this is one of the best albums of 2017 and would encourage any Pop fans to buy it in any format. But just know if you choose the vinyl format, it's not a good example of the vinyl experience.

Lovely package, dreadful sound. *Review for the quality of the Vinyl not the tracks*
I really like this album. It’s Steps, it’s shiny, happy, fun, pop music. The packaging is gorgeous, the inner sleeves are gorgeous. The coloured vinyl is dreadful. It’s suppoesed to be gold and silver. What you get is an extremely dull grey coloured vinyl and a dull gold (it looks brown to me) vinyl. The sound is shockingly bad too. Sounds distorted and just awful. It’s a shame really as the album itself is great, the packaging is great but the quality control on the vinyl and the audio just didn’t happen. How this got through quality control I’ll never know.Do yourselves a favour and stick with the cd pressing of this album.
