Nice product but....
It's a nice scoop but I honestly thought it was larger. It's hard to tell on the pictures but it's only about 3 inches wide and about 6 or so inches long. It's great quality but just a little small for me. I was planning to use it for dog food. I saved it though because I can use it for chicken feed when I get the chickens or something like that. It is a good product but just on the smaller side. That's why I gave it 4 stars and not 5.

Great Value!
I could not find a scoop like this anywhere locally but thankfully there were countless options on Amazon. This just so happened to be a few dollars and was able to be shipped with my Prime order so the price and convenience of receiving it the next day was an absolute no brainer. I was pleased with the overall value. Sure, the quality is not top notch, but it is a sturdy scoop with some weight to it. I purchased to use with dry goods (popcorn at my son's circus party) and it provided a decently sized scoop that held the popcorn well while placing into the bags. The handle was appropriately sized (not too big, and not too small) for someone like me with medium sized hands. Since I only scooped dry goods, cleaning needed not to be heavy duty, just a wipe would have done fine. Unlike some of the other customers, I washed by hand with mild soap and warm water, then dried with a towel. During this, I did not experience any of the metallic coating coming off. I suspect perhaps with the high heat, strong detergents, and powerful water spray in a dishwasher, some damage can be expected for such an inexpensive alumninum scoop. I was impressed and pleased with this scoop, especially considering I paid under $4 for it. Even if I found locally somewhere, I wouldve wasted more than that in gas driving around to find it.

Terrific product used where it is best suited.
I find this product simply delightful, as the perfect combination of low cost and good functionality. I have seen stainless steel scoops running up to three times the cost of this aluminum product. But, if you want a product which will interact with human food, then you are better with stainless steel. For those stainless steel products with costs comparable to this aluminum product, I would say be wary of their strength. One of the virtues of this aluminum product is its strength. It will not bend to any weighty product. It will also resist dry products from sticking to its smooth surface.I bought three to use with cat kibble and cat litter, which I pour into large Sterilite containers, which can hold over 40 lb. One scoop full is enough to fill my kitties' dish for the day, and a few scoops of litter are enough to refresh a cleaned litter box. This is a pair of products which were meant for one another.Since I use these for only dry products, it takes no more than a light rinse to relieve it of dust. Then, it is back to work.

Great Scoop - Product description needs clarification
I purchased this scoop for scooping dog food from a large container and it has sufficiently served it's purpose without problems. That being said, I only rinsed it with soap and water before using it and have not attempted dishwashing it and therefore have not had any issues with the materials or coating washing off. Rinsing with soap and water didn't cause any problems. It seems to be good quality and durable, is a good size and has a good handle for my needs. My only "complaint" is with the item title. I'm not sure if this is my own misunderstanding, but I interpreted the "12 oz capacity" as 1.5 cups [of dog food], when in actuality it was only 1 cup when I measured an even scoop into a measuring cup after 2 months of use. So for those months I was under the impression that I was giving my dog 3 cups of food (2 scoops) but was actually only feeding him 2 cups.

LONGER THEN DESIRED and a bit roughly finished, but OK for ~$3/ea.
Although the ad states these scoops are 6" long, they're overall length is 8 3/4" long. (What DOES measure 6" is the length of just the bowl.)If, like us, you want to leave one of these in each of your jars of dry foods, than the jars will need to be taller then the overall length of the scoop. (If we'd thought they were longer then 6", we'd have bought lower-capacity scoops instead! The seller ought to make clear in his ad what the 6" length refers to.)These are nice scoops for ~$3 each, but I would not call them great scoops. They bare the signs of a manufacturer who routinely moves on to polishing before its pre-finishing work is completed. Admiral Craft imports these from China. There is also that matter mentioned by others about these scoops turning gunky-black when run through a dishwasher cycle. So, IF YOU MUST CLEAN THESE IN A DISHWASHER, THEY ARE NOT THE SCOOPS FOR YOU!

Perfect Fit for my Refrigerator's Ice-maker at a Low Price
I couldn't find this scoop or a similar one in the retail stores that I patronize. I wanted a metal scoop for the ice maker in my refrigerator's lower freezer compartment. This scoop is the perfect size for my needs. Its short handle allows its overall length to be limited to 8 1/2 inches (please be advised that the 6 inch length advertised pertains to the scoop's product holding portion, not its overall length). It fits into the ice catching tray in my freezer without sticking out or being obtrusive. I must admit that sometimes I store it in one of the freezer compartment's bins which are made of a vinyl coated grating, to avoid ice cubes sticking to it and being a pain to remove prior to using it. I like the scoop's solid one piece cast aluminum construction (no cheap spot welding 2 pieces together) and its contoured handle. I do not plan to wash it in the dishwasher as other reviewers have mentioned a discoloration problem. Just plain tap water, soap, and a sponge will suffice for me. Given this scoop's low price, it is an excellent buy.
