Advent Calendar "At the Castle"

I've discovered that it's very difficult to buy an ordinary card Advent calendar in the shops & I looked in several. The others were all chocolate filled. Yes, I did buy one of those too but I also wanted an ordinary one the sort I remember from my youth. Obviously the place to look was Amazon & I'm glad I did. It's very pretty but the numbers on the doors are very small. You have to look with your specs on whilst standing in good light to find them. Odd thing though... whilst looking for a non-chocolate filled calendar I noticed some for sale that were advertised as "used"....... surely a used one defeats the purpose of buying one to start with or perhaps I'm not understanding the use of the word "used" - has it suddenly got a different meaning?

Lovely traditional advent calendar, from Germany. Doors are shaped to fit the scene, rather than dull and uniform. Behind the doors are people doing things, e.g. knitting, playing piano. In the true (Christian) spirit of Christmas, with hosts of angels and a nativity scene. Some doors are quite small, so this is probably not suitable for very young children. Good value, delivered promptly. Liked it so much, I sent one to my sister in New York - she loves it too.

One of the best advent calendars we’ve had. Very traditional, beautiful style. Will buy this make every year.

After 24 days seemed a bit flimsy...backing distorted. Saying that gorgeous design and love the glitter - nicer than the chocolate modern ones for sure!

I wanted a German advent calendar like those of my childhood, so I bought a total of four- one UK made- but this is my favourite. Has all the essentials: hand-numbering vs. machine print-looking numbers, lots of little windows tucked away, and good details and depth of field in the artwork. These things matter to traditional advent calendar lovers! Don't know yet what's behind the windows but have high hopes!

A4 in size and a bit flimsy. Not much to say other than a pretty picture without much impact.

I love this advent calendar but it is definitely more for adults than children. The pictures behind the doors add to the picture on the front and build up the scene. Behind a lot of the window it shows what people are doing in that house and the pictures can be quite small, but as I said, I love it!

Dieser wunderschöne Adventskalender war ein Geschenk für meine Mutter. Sie liebt diese Art von Adventskalender, da sie so an ihre Kindheit erinnert wird. Die Bildchen hinter den Türchen sind echt schön!Meine Mutter wird nun jedes Jahr einen solchen Adventskalender bekommen!

Justo lo que buscaba. Es un calendario de adviento tradicional sin chocolatitos. Sólo un dibujito detrás de cada ventanita que es lo que yo tenía de pequeña. Si eres de la década de los 70 o te encanta lo vintage, este calendario es para tí.La foto no ha salido muy bien ya que se ven los colores un poco más apagados de lo que son en realidad.Lo recomiendo para el que busca lo tradicional!

mi è piaciuto molto questo calendario tradizionale. Bei dettagli, belle imagini all'interno. L'ho preso in aggiunta a quello offerto dalla nonna contenente cioccolatini!
