The Slim Guide is a great caliper. The spring-loaded mechanism gives a much more consistent and accurate reading than the AccuMeasure, but the caveat is that you can't take measurements by yourself! You WILL need someone else to take your measurement for you with it! The reason for this is down to the fact that you won't be able to see the dial on it whilst doing the pinch test in most areas! (-including the suprailliac crest). I thought I would perhaps be able to get around this by taking the measurement in front of the mirror, but you'd be surprised at just how difficult it is to see the dial, even when you do that! However, this is not the fault of the caliper. It is more just a case of most calipers were not designed for self-testing. But I thought I would mention this in case anyone else was thinking of self testing like I did, so that they knew not to waste their money. For that, the AccuMeasure is the one you need, as it remembers where the pinch mark is, so you can still see how many mm your skinfold is even after you take it off your body, so is PERFECT for self-testing! (But the AccuMeasure's drawback is that it does take alot longer to learn how to use it properly in order to get consitent readings!) However, if you have someone who can take your readings, the Slim Guide caliper is GREAT!! (and it's HANDS DOWN easier to get consistent readings with!!) So the moral of the story here is that they are both great calipers, just you have to use the right tool for the job, depending on your situation!

Just received the Idass Caliper to my address in Spain after 4 days plus weekend (very impressed). I am familiar with this product as I had previously owned them back in the UK as a Personal Trainer along with Harpenden's. Recently I bought another make of calipers here in Spain that are available on Amazon UK, and was very disappointed with the build quality and the accuracy. For me holding the Idass caliper just spoke volumes. The stiffness and accuracy made so much difference. I recommend these for anyone wanting a good level of accuracy in skinfold measuring.

Perfect perfect perfect. A lot of people whinge that "oh you can't do it on yourself", well guess what, you're not supposed to! It's much better to get someone else to do it. Just make sure its the same person each time to get most accurate results. I am a Nutritionist by profession and I get my girlfriend to do it on me (under strict instruction haha). It comes with a great booklet to show you how to do it, great quality and gives accurate results each time I use it. Comes in a resealable plastic bag/pouch thing so its altogether all the time :) This is much better than all the other smaller pincer plastic things that are cheaper. Although more expensive, if you are wanting to measure your fat %, you should invest in good equipment, if you're serious about knowing and tracking the values. Happy measuring!!

I went through several pairs of cheap calipers which snapped after a week or 2 of general use. I picked this one because it looked sturdier and I wasn't wrong. This is thick plastic and metal spring loaded so I have no worries about this one falling apart. Measurements are accurate (tested against a boxed professional set from a PT friend) and comes with some really informative charts. If you want an affordable calipers which will give a good reading and won't disintegrate then pick this up.

Much more accurate than those rubbish impedance testers people use. Bit overpriced for two bits of plastic and a spring, but does the job. The instructions are good enough but only tell you how to do a 4 site test, whereas I prefer to do an 8 or 9 site test (details on these are found easily on the web). Been cutting my bodyfat away for 12 weeks now and it read me as 8.3%bodyfat which is a little lower than I think I actually am, but it's good all the same.. Recommended.

I've had a few calipers overs the years. As a personal trainer I use them fairly frequently. My old pair were much smaller than these with tiny numbers which had started to rub off. These are much larger, seem very solidly built and most importantly for me have large clear numbers making them much easier to read. I'll update my review if they fall apart on me but so far so good!

It worked well for a while until the numbers rubbed off as shown in the image.

The item is of solid plastic construction with two springs providing the force to pinch the skin. I have used this product about 15 times now and have to say i am happy with the accuracy it gives. I have used some other skinfold callipers which are smaller but they are much more flimsy and not as accurate in terms of measuring. I am a personal trainer and these callipers allow me to measure my clients progress in terms of fat loss, offering a highly accurate measuring method (As long as you measure the same places on the client). The product comes with instructions on how to use the callipers. I can see this product lasting me a good while but i still cant reason to why it is priced at over £20 for something which is essentially a bit of plastic and a couple of springs. However after doing much research on different callipers and their associated costs it appears that a good calliper will set you back over £20 but if it lasts a year or two id say a good buy overall. Id recommend this product to fitness professionals and also people just wanting an accurate measuring device to see if there training is paying off. P.S The calliper can exert quite a pinch =)

Mit diesem Kaliper lässt sich der Körperfettanteil ziemlich genau messen. Für mich wichtig um zu wissen ob ich an Fett zulege oder Muskeln. Ansonsten ist der Kaliper stabil verarbeitet und tut das was er tun muss.

Davvero un'ottimo prodotto. Tra gli articoli di fascia bassa è sicuramente il migliore. Avevo acquistato un altro articolo il paragone non regge: grazie alle due forti molli laterali, questo si è rivelato nettamente più preciso e robusto. La plica viene stretta saldamente mentre con gli altri articoli in cui la presa della plica dipende esclusivamente dell'operatore, è davvero difficile avere una presa salda è precisa. Nonostante sia costituito interamente di plastica, l'aspetto e le dimensioni lo fanno apparire di discreta professionalità. Decisamente consigliato

Este adipómetro está construido con un plástico grueso y un buen muelle. Al cogerlo y usarlo se percibe robusto y de larga durabilidad. La escala se lee muy bien, está muy clara. Las intrucciones están en alemán, inglés y francés. No hay en español, pero no es un problema porque para usarlo bien casi recomendaría mejor que leer las intrucciones ver vídeos explicativos, quedará más claro su uso. Las intrucciones o documentos incluyen una tabla para obtener nuestro porcentaje de masa corporal. En principio se toman las cuatro medidas, se suman esas cuatro medidas y por último se busca en la tabla de nuestro sexo el total de la suma y nuestra edad. Y ahí está el porcentaje.

Pince de qualité. Facile à utiliser ... mais pas seul ! La prise du plis sous l'omoplate ne peut être fait que par une autre personne ! Le dépliant joint explique clairement comment procéder. Depuis son obtention, je vois l'évolution de ma masse grasse en complément du suivi du poids ! Poids Novembre 73 Février 72 et juin 72 Masse grasse Novembre 15% Février 13.5% et juin 12.5% La variation de poids tendrait à dire que j'ai peu maigri mais la vérification de la masse grasse prouve que j'ai perdu plus de 3 kg de graisse (et pris 2 kg de muscle !) Je suis donc très satisfait de mon achat.

Está hecho de un plástico muy bueno y con buen tacto. Seguro que si se me cae al suelo no le pasará nada. El muelle es bastante "duro" y da un buen bocado. Eso es perfecto para que el pliegue no se mueva. Es difícil de utilizar por uno mismo (sobretodo la medida escapular, que tengo que hacerla mirando la medida desde el reflejo de un espejo y con mucha dificultad). Por ello echo en falta un sistema que permita "bloquear" la medición, para retirar tranquilamente la pinza y después proceder a leer la medición. Viene con un manual (en inglés) que informa detalladamente cómo hacer la medición y algunas fórmulas interesantes que se pueden aplicar. Y también trae una tabla con los valores de índice de grasa a partir de la edad y de las mediciones tomadas.
