I like it
I think even tho they can only go so deep into each job and the amount of jobs they. Theres a lot of options to choose from and it opens your eyes to the different types of job in a field. I think it was helpful. It gives you a great overview of the jobs and what you more realistically getting into job wise. The book honestly knocked a couple carrer paths out my options (for personal reasons) and I could not be happier bc I know if I went into that career and it was anything like the book said it was I would have completely wasted my money on a degree.

great for young teenagers
This book is great for my 13 year old. He loves learning about different careers. This is not a hard reading level, simple, tons of different careers, and it's fun for my son to read. We find it interesting looking at it together.

A bit British
This is targeted more towards the British, but there is still a lot of relevant information for us Americans. The presentation was very well laid out. It also answers a lot of questions about the careers available.

Unhelpful, not a guide or handbook
This is probably a great reference book for someone who already knows what field they want to pursue but not the specific role. However, it is very UNHELPFUL if you are someone trying to get pointed in the right direction because you do not have a clue as to your career path, which is how this book is marketed. Less than 20 pages out of more than 300 are dedicated to discussing that you need to assess yourself to decide your path (all in very general, common sense ways, nothing concrete or helpful), and the rest of the book is essentially an encyclopedia of different careers, instead of how to choose one.

Purchased for 12 year old.
Purchased this book at xmas for my 12 daughter in an attempt to convince her she needs to have a bit of interest in what she'd like to do when she leaves school. Its very clearly laid out and does feature a lot of various occupations and gives and idea of interests and qualifications which would lead to them. It's a good reference book and easy to pick up and browse. Hopefully it's going to trigger some interest and direction.

Really useful resource
This is an up-to-date guide that has proved very useful to my eldest daughter who graduates this year. She has a non-vocational degree and really wasn’t sure where to go next. The book is well laid out, contains vital information about salary and skill sets required and is colourful and engaging.

Poor guidance on qualifications.
Devotes a lot of space to personal qualities for occaotions but far too little on acdemic qualifications required. Creates unrealistic aspirations and does not even describe what being a graduate entails. .
