Always have liked the Airfix line and was glad to find this to go with my various Airfix & Hat prodcuts

This Airfix 1:72 Scale D-Day Coastal Defence Fort Model kit faithfully recreates a front line defensive fort/strong point position the main German twin gun emplacements, would be used against at any approaching seaborne invasion fleet and was part of the French Atlantic coastal defences, partly created by the famous Field Marshal Erwin Rommel in anticipation of the long awaited invasion by the Allies from the West on D-Day and was part of the Atlantic Wall. The German doctrine was based on defeating any seaborne assault at the water line. To further reinforce defences, a string of reinforced concrete pillboxes was built along the beaches, or sometimes slightly inland, to house machine guns, antitank guns and light artillery. The Allied landings at Omaha (codename) were met by defences, which were unexpectedly strong, and inflicted heavy casualties on landing US troops.This plastic diorama kit requires paint and glue to complete. Unfortunately the reissues don't have the firing mechanisms that were in the original set, as these sets were considered playsets. In The original configuration would have snap-together WW2 combat vehicles and two sets of opposing forces. This airfix model was a gift for my GrandsonHe said it is a very good likeness of the original building

Not a advanced kit but good for creating a D-Day display model

My son absolutely loved this. He's aged 12 and is a WWII buff. He still loves playing though and this is perfect to go with his other Airfix models from the same period.
