Danger Girl: Destination Danger

Haven't read these stories yet and upon finally reading them ...
I'm on a mission: To collect every Danger Girl book that's been released so far. On my journey, I've come across this collection of stories and though "excellent ... many of the tales I'm looking for in 1 collection". Upon reading all the stories, I found myself wishing that J. Scott Campbell had a say in the art. Most of the issues has strange art that didn't even try to fit the styles that we first fell in love with. It was too ... different. And in that difference, a lot of the sex appeal of the characters disappears; a core aspect of this title. I find that only the final tale gave me a fraction of that feeling I got from the first (and most recent; Revolver) story arc.As for the writing, they seemed to be moving more and more into the far fetched and strange. I guess, just like James Bond once did, the Danger Girls had to encounter villains with bizarre traits eventually. But for there to be a man with a Slot Machine chest and arm turned into a club (to look like the slot machine lever), I really have to take myself out of the feel of the book. Once again, the final tale has elements in play that harken back to the original story in both content and style.Lastly, the picture gallery is a great addition to the book but I always wonder why they feel the need keep Natasha in the artwork as one of the girls when her time with the title was short lived. Where's Valerie's love?

Sadly no Campbell, but worth it for the wide range of different art styles
I bought this hoping there would be more of Campbell's spectacular artwork the likes of which that was present in Danger Girl: The Deluxe Edition, sadly there were only a few cover pieces scattered throughout. However I was highly pleased to discover that the first story, involving the daydreams of one underappreciated Danger Girl, was both highly entertaining and lushly illustrated by artist Arthur Adams. The rest of the book showcased both a variety of interesting art styles and entertaining stories. I already have the deluxe edition and some of the covers that are in that edition are also in this one, that and the lack of Campbell's art are the reason I deducted a star. All the stories here are new, as in they are not in the deluxe edition. If you're on the fence about adding this to your collection and are interested in seeing Danger Girl in a few different art styles than I would definitely recommend buying this. Review is by HALEY S., not Becky S.

A Smattering of Sumptuous Stories
Danger Girl: Destination Danger is more of an anthology of graphic short stories, than a single novel. Unlike the uniform artwork in Danger Girl: The Ultimate Collection, several artists contributed to Destination Danger. The book includes: Danger Girl: Kamikaze, Danger Girl: Hawaiian Punch and the silly-but-fun spoof on 60's vintage TV shows, The Mod Bods, just to name a few. In Kamikaze, the girls run afoul of the Asian version of the Hammer Empire. I thought this story could have been more developed. However, the manner in which it ended, leaves me to believe--that maybe--we haven't seen the last of this menace.

Good "Danger Girl" one-shots and overall, a good compilation.
Before buying this, I didn't know that this book was a compilation that contained some one-shot issues of "Danger Girl" as I thought it was a novel of a story arc, like how "Body Shots" and "Back In Black" are. Funny thing is that I am trying to collect a lot of the trades of "Danger Girl" and I was almost going to try looking for "Odd Jobs" until I found out that "Destination Danger" pretty much IS "Odd Jobs" with one other story arc that was added to this one, so in the end, I am glad that I went with "Destination Danger."As far as the stories go, I will give my takes on them. "Delusions of Grandeur" is actually my personal favorite out of all of them because it shows that Valerie wants to one day be a Danger Girl but she is too young for the action. She imagines what it would be like to do Sydney's work, which was interesting. She imagines herself as the leader like Deuce, which she felt was too far-fetched. Finally, she imagined doing stuff what Abbey does, which was cool, and of course Johnny was in her fantasy because she has a big crush on him. I thought it was so cute because Valerie, the teenage tech wiz, always feels like she misses out on all "the fun.""The Mod Bods": I have to say that this was campy fun and it was funny to see the three girls in a 60s style setting. It reminded me of the old "Batman" TV show. It was fun, I thought."Hawaiian Punch": Pretty good story but I felt that there should have been more to it."Viva Las Danger": The artwork was done by the same guy who illustrated "Hawaiian Punch." I thought the story was a little better than "Hawaiian Punch" and it had a funny ending. Also, good action sequences."Kamikaze": What I found interesting about this one was the artwork. It was like anime and the story had a Japanese theme to it. I also liked the woman who teamed with the Danger Girls and we got to see Valerie shine in the end. What I also found interesting was that there were some speech bubbles that had Japanese in them but subtitles at the bottom of the panels. There is one thing that I noticed about "Hawaiian Punch" and "Viva Las Danger," Valerie didn't wear her glasses in them. It was never explained why she didn't either, but that is a trademark of her character.Overall, this was a solid compilation of "Danger Girl" stories. If you have to decide between this and "Odd Jobs," get "Destination Danger" instead because it has all the stories from "Odd Jobs" plus one other one, which was "Kamikaze," and that was not in "Odd Jobs" at all. I highly recommend this book.

Danger Girl.
I would recommend this product if you are a fan of Danger Girl. I did really like it, simple fun and easy to get on with. Only problem with it for me was that it is loads of short stories done by different artists, an im very picky with the art i have in a comic book, some i liked others i could'nt read because i just got bord with the art style, but that is just me.

sufficente
