3D View Finder Toy

Not an easy one for me to review as the three stars only is more of the reflection on the £18.90 this John Lewis branded 3D viewer costs compared to the £12 that I now know John Lewis are selling it for!The viewer itself seems to be fully plastic in make and yet the lever itself seems robust enough in use. Time will tell tho how long it will last.The three discs that it comes with are adequate in their construction, not as thick as the old original ones, but we have seen a lot worse with the newer type. So in that sense they are ok but care must be taken in their use.Young children will need some help loading a disc in case they manage to bend it, as noted they are a little flimsy.Looking through the device is a good as it can get, best held up to the light. The 3D type viewing is fun and entertaining.The lever has a positive action and each disc is advanced without skipping.Be aware that if you have any older discs they tend to have a short story that you can read within a small Windows on the viewer. This viewer doesn't have the window and so you will not be able to follow the story. The discs included have no story on the anyway. But those like Sponge-bob, Cars and Ice Age 2 all have those shorty stories and they would be missing when viewed with this device.If this had cost around £10 or less it would have been seen as value for money. Costing nearly £19 and yet branded as a John Lewis device which is sold at £12 it is difficult to rate it higher.

Works well and is a nice, clean option for viewing those old View Master reels, as opposed to picking some fragile, grubby 30 or 40-year-old second-hand model from elsewhere.The action is as smooth as any other model, although the orange lever feels a little delicate being made of plastic rather than metal.Optics are fine and the focussing wheel is the kind of thing you set once for your eyes and forget. Individual reels can be distorted but it's not really fun trying to re-focus for every slide. Still, the originals didn't have this function very often so it's a bonus.Service was good too.

The toy was as described and looks good, it’s for my grandson but he hasn’t had them yet, I was a bit annoyed to find them on the John Lewis website for nearly £9 cheaper than on here, after I received them.

I bought this for my grandson for Christmas as he loves my original one, however I was upset to find I could have got this product for half the price at John Lewis and that I cannot find spare slides, I don't know if viewmaster slides will fit so I cant buy spare ones so it looks like he is stuck with these 3 slides.

I have bought this for a Christmas present for my little girl and I can’t wait for a go with it myself.Brings back memories from my childhood.It arrived quickly and it looks like a lovely well made toy.

Bought as a present for Xmas 2018. I think it will be a big hit. It's different
