No, I wouldn't call it a cream. Its more of a solid oil which melts when you rub it in your hands. It very moisturising and smells lovely.

Is this good for braiding hair? If not can anyone recommend a good gel for braiding caucasian hair

Hey! I have Caucasian hair, I use this on semi mature locks. It is oil based, so any new dreads and it can undo the work. I use it for when I need my dreads to be smart and this helps tidy up loose hairs, however again, do note, this will leave residue regardless of what the product description says.
