Sickness

Having enjoyed some of Disturbeds songs in the past I thought I would check out some of the their past releases and what better way then to start with their debut album. According to Wikipidia: The Sickness has been certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA, with around 4,248,000 copies sold in the United States alone as of 2011, making it the band's most successful album.I enjoyed listening to the album and thought that most of the songs were OK. None of the tracks particulary stood out for this listener although I like 'Down with the sickness' (a Nu Metal classic) the call to arms of 'Conflict' and I rather enjoyed the Tears for Fears cover of 'Shout'. I also couldnt help but smile when lisening to the album closer 'Meaning of Life' with its ironic musings on its fans. I quite like David Draimans vocals (he does sound a bit disturbed and sick) and you can tell that Dan Donegan is an accomplished guitar player.A fairly good debut album, a band I could take or leave I think, the album left me feeling indifferent, might check out some more of their back cataologue. I think someone who likes most metal would find this listenable.

This was an album I'd been wanting to get for several years but had struggled to find it in high-street shops sadly, when the anniversary edition came out I looked at that but after realising some of the original songs that I liked and wanted were missing I opted for searching for one of these. I'm very glad I did!Disturbed fans won't be disappointed and if you aren't sure about these guys I'd recommend checking out a few songs on youtube so you can make the right decision for yourself.

Ascoltare l'opera prima dei Disturbed è un'esperienza coinvolgente e potente: a volte sembra di sentire i Pantera, altre i Faith No More, i Prong, i System Of A Down e gli Slipknot, c'è anche qualcosina di grunge (soprattutto di Alice In Chains per certi passaggi vocali che mi hanno ricordato il buon Layne Staley, R.I.P.), in realtà alla fine capisci che hai appena fatto il pieno di un'energia pazzesca e "nuova", che nessuna delle band sopra citate poteva creare secondo la sequenza delle canzoni presenti in questo album! Questo è un disco emblema per il genere cosiddetto Nu Metal, da avere! Incisione su vinile più che buona, strumenti ben definiti, vinile silenziosissimo!

Pietra miliare del cosiddetto nu metal, disco potente, ben suonato e con pezzi davvero bellissimi. La band non arriverà mai più, a mio avviso, a toccare le vette toccate con the sickness. La title track, numb, dropping plates, signify, sono canzoni seminali del genere che hanno costruito una via d'uscita dal metal classico. Consigliatissimo

Was für ein Kracher ist das Debüt-Album der Band DISTURBED unter der Leitung des Produzenten Johnny K (bürgerlich John Karkazis), welches im März 2000 veröffentlicht wurde, bitte geworden!!! Ein Album, das mindestens 3 Ausrufezeichen wert ist!!! Oder 5 Sterne!!! Nicht umsonst ist es ihr erfolgreichstes Album bisher, welches in den USA mit Fünffachplatin für über fünf Millionen verkaufte Einheiten ausgezeichnet wurde.Von Dan Donegan (Gitarre), Steve „Fuzz“ Kmak (Bass), Mike Wengren (Schlagzeug) und dem ehemaligen Sänger Erich Awalt unter dem Namen BRAWL 1994 gegründet, veröffentlichte die Band im selben Jahr ihre erste Demo. Da Erich Awalt 1996 die Band verließ, wurde per Zeitungsanzeige mit David Draiman ein neuer Sänger gefunden. Und was für einer!!! Mit welcher Stimmgewalt Draiman hier ans Werk geht, ist wahrlich beeindruckend fassettenreich. Vom shouting bis zu melodischen Gesangspassagen hat er seine Stimmbänder stets im Griff, und das, obwohl er ihnen alles abverlangt. Aber auch die anderen Bandmitglieder beherrschen ihre Instrumente perfekt und liefern 12 kompromisslos brettharte Songs ab. Gereift ist daraus eine Perle klangdynamischer Komposition, die so richtig in keine Schublade passen will und wahrscheinlich macht genau diese Tatsache die Genialität des Albums aus.Anleihen von Alternative Metal, Heavy Metal, Modern Metal bis zu Hard Rock, sowie Elemente aus den Bereichen Thrash-, Power- und Nu Metal sowie Modern-Rock und Pop. Letztlich hinken alle Vergleiche, Eigenständigkeit scheint sich DISTURBED groß auf ihre Fahnen geschrieben zu haben.Gleich der Opener “Voices” knallt richtig gut und gibt die Marschrichtung vor. „The Game” und “Stupify” lassen das Headbanger-Herz euphorisch im Takt schlagen. Bei „Down with the Sickness” kommt ein wenig melodiöser und ruhiger daher, um dann in Songs wie „Violence Fetish” und “Fear” umso fetter abzuliefern. “Numb” ist wieder eine etwas ruhigere Nummer, aber deshalb nicht schlechter. Nach „Want” folgt dann mit „Conflict” ein Brett, das nicht mit Elektroeinflüssen geizt, wie vorher auch schon in den meisten Songs enthalten. „Shout 2000” ist eine überragend gelungene Coverversion des Tears for Fears-Hits. „Droppin' Plates” und “Meaning of Life” bilden den krönenden Abschluß dieses kleinen Meisterwerks auf Vinyl.Die Produktion und das Mastering sind richtig fett, wofür auch der dynamic-range von 10-13 spricht. 180g Vinyl und ein gelungenes Cover runden das stimmige Gesamtbild ab.Mein Fazit: Für mich das stärkste Album der Band bisher, dicht gefolgt von „Immortalized“, da es noch kompromissloser zu Werke geht, während „Immortalized“ ein wenig weichgespülter, braver und kommerzieller daherkommt.In allen Belangen ein Ohr-gasmus.Der Vinyhilist

An awesome sounding vinyl.. brings back the old days when this type of music was fresh..Doesn't say anything about it being a 2015 release, 2012.. for the price no worries as it's a clear sounding record.. crank it!!
