BBQ Smoking Apple Wood Chunks

Q: How do you use these? do you burn them or do you lit charcoal and put these on top. also if they are soaked, obviously they won't burn? confused

Hello, Our smoking wood chunks have been cut to be the ideal size for a kettle or kamado style BBQ. You add 1 - 3 chunks (generally, more if preferred or if using an off-set smoker) to your already lit and burning charcoal. The chunks can be soaked but that is entirely optional. The chunks will smolder and produce a clean smoke (not a thick, acrid dark smoke, but a light, white smoke) which is used when hot smoking food. Chunks are generally used, as opposed to our smoking chips, when you want to cook something that will take longer, such as smoked brisket or pork shoulder. Hope this helps! Lewis - Grilling Wood

Q: Do you soke the wood in water

Only soak your wood in something to give it flavour, so not water. When the liquid evaporates it will add to the smokey flavour 👍

Q: What is the moisture contents of the oak smoking wood?

We kiln dry our Oak chunks to a moisture level below 20%. Every batch we dry is tested for its moisture content and the average is around 12% for Oak. It is important to store the wood in a dry place with good ventilation.I hope this help.Regards,Lewis - Grilling Wood
