The locked rotor current is around 275 amps at 24volts. I would limit the current to 30 amps continuous and perhaps 75 amps peak as the leads are only 12AWG and heat would be a concern if used over 30 amps long term.

Hi, I didn't test yet but per my numbers a 15-20 Amps fuse should be fine.

The shaft is 1/2-inch diameter. Yes, the motor can run at variable speeds and reverse. An electronic motor speed controller is normally used for this rather than a rheostat.
