I have no idea what your Seagate takes in the way of connections but it is not just a case of connecting devices with Apple Products. Your hard drive will need to be formatted to Apple rather than normal PC mode before it will link with your iPad and will probably also need a power source as Apple Products don’t normally provide power for plug in drives.
