OVERVIEW A joint compound roller makes light work of getting large amounts of drywall compound onto walls and ceilings - ideal when you need to cover and smooth out large surface areas. The unique ½-inch thick reticulated polypropylene nap on LEVEL5 drywall compound roller covers enables them to accept up to 50% more compound than other high-nap rollers. The specially designed nap also releases the compound uniformly on the wall. LEVEL5 compound roller covers are very durable. If cleaned thoroughly after each use, they can be used many times before replacement. LEVEL5 12-inch compound roller covers are designed specifically for use with LEVEL5 compound roller frames with heavy duty 1/4-inch diameter shafts (#4-904). This roller width is ideal for rolling large amounts of drywall compound onto flat surfaces prior to final finishing with a skimming blade. PRO TIP: Before using your new drywall compound roller for the first time, “prime” the roller cover by wrapping painter’s tape around its entire surface and then peeling it off. This will remove any loose fibers or bits of roller nap that may not have been securely attached during manufacturing. ABOUT LEVEL5 COMPOUND ROLLERS LEVEL5 Compound Rollers available in 4” (#4-005), 9” (#4-905) and 12” (#4-906) lengths for applying compound to flat surfaces. A specialized 2” inside corner roller (#4-006) is also available. Replacement roller covers for all variants are available in singles and three packs.

European standard roller
Excellent roller for drywall skim coat. However, needs proprietary handle and caps for best results. I don't want to buy an extra pole as I have enough with wide range of adapters, but none fit Level5 precisely or well enough to continue working without finicking around. Side caps are 1.75ish inch, which are not interchangeable with US standard 1.5 inch. It works well enough with Purdy frame, which can be used with standard pole. When using for plastering or with fast set compound for skimming, you need to be able to clean it fast. I usually remove caps when cleaning, so I tried it with this one. Caps are interconnected inside with a tube, which I accidentally broke, and they don't stay put without it. Somebody went an extra step to make sure, you will have a hard time to prolong the life of the roller.I bought a few European standard caps which are 1.75 inch without any need for stabilizer tube in a middle, similar to all other standard rollers. However, the inside diameter of the roller is slightly below 1.75 inch. It can be quickly fixed with sanding drum. For the cost of the roller and considering that even if it would be made to industry standard, it is still a limited lifespan item due to nature of its purpose, it is a little off putting when you have to spend any extra time to make it work. This type of roller is standard in Europe for plastering. It is cheap and performs well. However, it takes long time to get to US. I was finally glad to see it sold on Amazon, even at higher price since you can get it in one day.

Applies the mud very well
Works well to apply mud. Didn't realize you need a special size roller handle to apply it.

Money grab
They made this product to only work with all of their attachments. Their roller handle only works with their extension pole, I tried to buy a different 12 “ roller handle and it’s just a 1/2” or so too small for it. Products like these, even if they are good, will always get a bad rating for me if they’re only good when you buy their whole set. If you are only using the roller, you’re fine, if you need to paint up high and don’t want to buy yet another extension pole, this product is not for you.

Great idea, poor execution
These rollers are a great help for applying mud, but they do have a couple of major flaws.1- yes, the black plastic nap of the roller comes off and gets into your mud, so you end up having to pick them out and re-smooth it.2- the handles are not threaded inside so you can’t attach them to an extension pole, unless you buy an adapter. For this roller head, I bought a 12-18” adjustable paint roller that attaches to an extension pole.
