This os a well made inverter/charger but I expected it to be made in the Netherlands, not Thailand. Having said that it looked good out of the box but it did not work as expected. First, it has to be on to pass shore power to my RV which drains the battery bank, secondly, it does not seem to charge my LFP batteries like my old converter/charger did even when the configuration was done to the manufacturer's specifications. Amazon is no help in this regard once the 30 day return period has passed. I would only buy this if you are prepared to buy many other victron products to make it work in the "ecosystem" which are really, really expensive. Also be prepared to spend many hours watching conflicting Victron videos about their products. Better to buy it from a vendor who will answer the phone as part of a "kit".

I chose victron after seeing so many of my friends that have upgraded their RVs to victron products. This piece is magnificent, I upgraded my 400 W inverter which only powered one outlet for my TV and stereo. Now the whole coach is electrified. I can even run my air conditioner with the soft start, unfortunately I don’t have quite enough battery to run it for long, but the cool thing is that this device can handle the load. I also love how the Bluetooth works where I can see and change settings, and I love that Victron works so well together with the other products they make. Pricey, but worth it.

This is my second MultiPlus and fourth inverter charger in a marine application. This device works great, most importantly it will pass through AC/Shorepower even when completely disconnected from the house battery. The ability to charge at up to 80 amps is downright impressive. The inverter works great and produces clean power. Including a 1A trickle charger for a start battery is a nice touch (but may cause problems with a DC-DC or similar devices.) The design of the inverter/charger, the cable connections, strain relief, and manuals are all done well and are the things that other brands consistently get wrong. It isn't perfect however; for example, the upper mounting screw holes (should you need to use them) require removing the entire cover, which can be very difficult to do in-situ unless you have huge amounts of room around the device. The lower cover that covers the wire terminals has small angled screws that are again, extremely difficult to install unless you have a lot of room and good sight lines. These are things that are purely driven by design decisions and would cost nothing to fix. The real problem is this product is not a good value, even at a discounted price. The purchase price does not include a remote control, which is another $100+ and is required for 95%+ of installations. Most other brands include remote controls in the purchase price. Additionally, most installations are going to require configuration, meaning you need to buy a VE.Bus adapter or device, another $80 or more. Most other brands include a way to do this deeper configuration at no additional charge. If I could do it again, I would go with a different, quality brand. I knew I was paying a premium for Victron, but I didn't realize how that premium would grow just to get the unit installed/configured.

While the unit seemed well constructed it had an immediate failure out of the box. Made a large pop noise when power was applied and would not produce power out. I've had numerous victron products and this is the first failure. Seller accepted return and I bought a multiplus compact instead. I liked the design much better on this one but wasnt going to risk another failure when I needed this to work for the new camper 2 weeks before vacation.

This inverter/charger increases the amount of time we can spend on the hook without having to power up the generator.
