Indispenable!
I tried to buy this from Cabela's, but they told me it had been discontinued. Actually what they did was not send it, tell me it was back-ordered, then discontinued, until I asked them about it and they said the camo case one (this one) is discontinued. Anyway they lost the sale, because obviously it is not discontinued. BTW, the manufacturer also has this on their site, but I bought it here because I needed it quickly (due to the before-mentioned incompetence). The site also has their wonderful bone saw and adjustable T-hanger, and it's an American company (there are a few left).I bought this to process and butcher my home bred and raised, organic, grass-finished goats. I have never hunted or dressed any animal other than fish and chickens. So I felt a little worried about my first time, and I wanted the best equipment. The reviews on the Cabela's site about this product are overwhelmingly positive, so I decided to get this.I am so happy I bought this knife. It did a superb job with what it is supposed to do-zipping and skinning. I used it to start the skinning on the rear legs, front legs and neck. The larger areas I went to a boning knife or butcher knife. It also worked really well around the bung. The zipper was great any time hide needed to be cut (belly, legs, neck). It is designed to cut up from under the skin, so that reduces hair on the carcass (although my carcasses were still loaded with hair). The zipper blade was as sharp as a surgical scalpel (I am a surgeon, I know). The design makes it super safe to use. Unlike a surgical scalpel, it really didn't get dull. I used it on two goat carcasses and it never got dull, but I'll definitely use a new one for the next one.The directions say to replace the blade cover every time you switch blades (ie-go from the zipper to the skinner). I can't stress this enough, especially when using the zipper. The skinner is positioned in such a way that it WILL cut your hand if the plastic cover is not on it while you are skinning. IT WILL. Ask me how I know.Lastly, this is not the only knife you will need for the whole job. It's really just for the skinning portion, and I did use other knives for skinning as well. I chose to remove the head and feet with a different knife, because I didn't want to dull this knife on bone.

Best Skinning Knife
I've been using this skinning knife, since they first came out in the late 80's. Best knife IMO to process your game available. Blades stay sharp for a long time.

Great Knife
I had one of these many years ago and finally found a replacement. It works perfectly. This is the ideal knife for skinning small, deer-sized game.

Very well made and from the USA
I had read about this knife and as a new deer hunter I found that I needed it for gutting. Works extremely well and is solidly built. Be careful because there are some cheap Chinese knock offs out there posing as the original Wyoming knife. Look for the Made in USA, I do this as a matter of habit now.

Best skinning tool or river rescue knife
As a river rescue knife, this is great. Good secure grip, sharp replaceable blades.Imagine being upside down, underwater, blind and trapped. Pull this from your belt or PFD and cut yourself (and anyone else) loose.
