The Right Move: Windy City Series, Book 2

Ryan freaking Shay
Alright, this romance is absolute perfection. Listen, I have a hard time with sports romances because as a former pro athlete, there are so many things that are done for romance purposes that can’t be done in real sports and as cheesy and fake as I know fiction is, that can take me out of the story. Here, I can ignore it.I’ll preface this by saying I haven’t read the first book in this “series” and for the first time reading out of order, it wasn’t needed. We are given characters from the first book, but you don’t need any background. They are introduced perfectly here without needing anything else to understand their roles or personalities. Mostly, the situation of the first book (flight attendant and hockey player) didn’t appeal to my taste, which is why I skipped, and it has nothing to do with the author or book quality. I just know the kinds of stories I like and pick up what I want. That being said, after reading the great quality of this book, I might go back and read it.Indy was the perfect lead, and I loved her immediately. She’s loud and unapologetic and I truly appreciated how open she was. Her confidence is rocked from her past relationship, but her growth to get past that and learn and allow herself to not back down was truly inspiring. She slowly discovers how low the bar was previously set and begins to ask for what she wants and start taking care of herself. Her arc was beautiful and so very sweet. Then there is Ryan freaking Shay. Holyyyyyyyy… that man is book boyfriend immediately. His arc was beautiful as well and it was so clear that his love for Indy was true and genuine. He was precious, and I needed a million more texts between the two of them. And then in the bedroom??? Y’all need some fans ready because damn. That was some of the best steam I’ve ever read, but beyond that, it was made even better by the chemistry the two shared. As for the plot, it never dragged. With every opportunity, we saw their relationship growing, the fake dating lines getting blurred, and the friendship blossoming. It’s such a smooth read despite a few missing words here and there, but that’s totally normal (and so few compared to what we find in other romances nowadays). The cast of characters is where this really shines. It’s pretty large, and I assume the first book has most of the hockey players, but add a team of basketball players and you’ve got a lot of personalities to work with. The author does them each justice. I could tell them all apart and see them shine even if they only had a few moments of page time. I can only imagine that the next book introducing a baseball team will be just as spectacular and I hope we get some cameos from our favorites in book 1 and 2.

Ryan Shay….
🏀✈️The Right Move (Windy City Series Book 2)Author: Liz TomfordeNumber of pages: 428Dual POVForced ProximityFake DatingBest Friends BrotherSports RomanceBasketball Romance⭐️ - 4🌶️ - 3Ok Ryan Shay I see you… that should pretty much be my review but I’ll add a lil to it. Despite not being a shadow daddy Ryan Shay is top tier book boyfriend material. He’s possessive without being controlling, generous, sweet, protective and generous 😉😏. He’s also under an unbelievable amount of pressure. So much that he’s not really living his life, he’s more like a prisoner of it. Every thing is by the book. Everything has a place. He can’t risk it being any other way. Until his sister’s best friend moves in. Indy is emotional, messy and colorful. Everything he doesn’t want but definitely needs. Going through a breakup, Indy doesn’t know how to be alone. She’s a nurturer and social butterfly. She needs to get over her ex. Obviously fake dating her best friend’s brother is the way to go.I loved this book. It was sweet, funny and a little sad at moments. Ryan and Indy’s relationship was healthy, balanced and respectful. Highly recommend!

I was up late at night wanting to finish this book 😍 even though I had work in the morning, I DID NOT CARE! I just wanted to know their happy ending. ❤I really fell in love with Indy and Ryan. they were opposite but fit perfectly together.Indy was so bubbly, caring, sweet, and lonely. She really lights up your world just by smiling. She has been hurt by the one person she thought she was going to spend her life with, but he cheated on her and took her for granted. She had nothing left to give.Ryan came in unexpectedly. He is strict with his plans in life, basketball is his only future, and the only thing he loves more than his twin sister. He has no plans to be with anyone or love anyone. He is a star athlete, super rich, and famous. He keeps to himself and has a perfect reputation. He, too got hurt in a horrible way. And now he doesn't believe in love. This story has my favorite trope, force proximity/roommates, Indy moves in with Ryan after she left her ex. They started with rules and as strangers. Along the way, Ryan started to love how messy, sweet, and caring is Blue. ( YES HE NICKNAMED HER BLUE!!!! ) He starts to take care of her without realizing it. She is so colorful when he is dull. She brings life into his and he just starts to want to break the rules. And of course, Indy loves nothing more than love and care for someone, she doesn't like to be alone. So she starts to love him in her own way, she starts to show him that he is more than basketball. She is making his life colorful.Indy and Ryan had such a long journey with each other. In a way, they moved around each other in sync. They knew each other so well, in a short period of time. It was beautiful seeing Ryan loving her quietly. Doing random things to make her happy and just showing her different kinds of long languages. Indy felt hard and fast, she had always wanted him since the first moment she saw him. Their pull was incredible. I just am so emotional over this!!! It was such a powerful way to show different love. And this one is my favorite. The silent one, people don't really realize how beautiful is to be loved so quietly and so strongly!! And of course, this man has a dirty mouth!! And Indy is not shy at all!! She is loud and dirty just like him, I just can't say how more perfectly they can be.I'm in love with this book and this series! I didn't want this book to never end!!! <3333

Can’t put down
So me and some other nurses have this in our book club, and I for one can’t put this book down. I love the realism of the characters lives. Relatable mental health issues that either we have experienced or encounter in our fields of work. I cried more in this one than in book 1. Great ending. Buildable characters, lovable as well. Great writing Liz!

A great read! Ryan Shay for the win!
What a wonderful read! I was instantly hooked and honestly couldn’t get enough. After Indy’s relationship of 6 six years, suddenly ends (not the best way) her best friend helps her find a place to live-with her twin brother, Ryan Shay. NBAs golden boy, private, closed off, and so guarded. He craves control in his life and has a soul focus on basketball-until Indy is thrown into his life and takes him by storm. These two couldn’t be more opposite if they tried and it made for the most incredible story. I loved their playful banter, subtle flirting and laughable moments. Their lives were thrust together; the attraction, chemistry and connection is undeniable! Both Indy and Ryan had events from their past that left them guarded, resistant to love and relationships. As they grew to know one another on a deeper level, they brought the best out of each other (and themselves) while providing a safe space to be open and get back to their true selves.I love Ryan so much, this man was beyond sweet in the best ways, while grumbling about it- but the way he melted for Indy was amazing. He supported her, cared for her and never went without telling her how smart and special she was. They way he helped her in so many ways was beautiful. It was like Indy brought Ryan back to life, she was a wonderful character. Smart, loving, fun and genuine. You couldn’t help but feel for her-and cheer her on during her journey. These two were such a perfect match, and I loved watching them figure that out as they got the HEA they deserved. It was so great seeing the main couple and side characters from book 1, along with meeting new ones. I’ve enjoyed being in this world and have been told book 3 is a favourite. With how I enjoyed this one, I am excited to jump into Kai’s story.

I LOVE IT!
I love Miles High (the prior book) I can truly says Evan Zanders is the #1 for me. But God, Ryan? He's also perfect and I loved Indy's personality and they way they both helped each other to improve themselves. I love the sexy scenes 🔥 there is no way to describe them tbh. Love their story and I love that we get to see more of Stevie and Zee's relationship. Liz Tomforde truly writes the men of my dreams.

Best Book Series!!!
Book 2 in The Windy City SeriesMCs: Ryan and IndyOkay so how do I start? When I picked up Mile High, I did not know what I was getting myself into. But oh boy, I have to say that book stole my heart. I was so excited to continue the series, but held off from reading it sooner, because I was waiting for July for the 4th book to release so I could read books 2, 3 and 4 together.I really have to say Liz Tomforde, I love you!Liz’s writing and story building is so beautiful. When I was introduced to Ryan and Indy as side characters in Mile High, I had a complety different perspective of them. But reading The Right Move, it was a very fresh perspective of the two characters.Yes, you may say this is because they were side characters in the first book; however, I believe, despite Ryan and Indy being side characters, they were extremely strong characters.Going into this book, I did not expect to see so many different layers of both Ryan and Indy. But that being said, it was nice seeing a different side to the loving brother and happy-go-lucky friend.I loved the book as a whole, but there were so many elements that made the story even more beautiful. Like the simple things, such as making her coffee and putting it in the fridge for it to cool down (you will have to read the book to understand the meaning behind this); to having vegetarian options at home and taking a vegetarian option for Indy on their camping trip.Talking of the camping trip, I loved the second half of chapter 15, Ryan and Indy’s heartfelt conversation in bed. There were many more small gestures like I mentioned that you see throughout the book; these were the ways they showed their affection for each other without expressing themselves through words. But of course there were some bigger gestures related to the health insurance etc (won’t be going into details as I do not want to give any spoilers). But it was gestures like these that made their relationship so so beautiful; it showed they understood their partner and their needs. And not just the relationship between the two MCs, but getting to see Ryan and Zanders relationship develop and see more of Ryan and Stevie’s bonding was a treat; just the simple thought of wanting their children to grow up together, was so adorable. And of course Indy and Stevie’s friendship just continues to bloom into a beautiful flower; I loved the daily updates.I don’t even think my words do justice to the book or my feelings for this book and this series. But what I can 100% say is I love this book and after the high expectations I had following Mile High; The Right Move did not disappoint at all. Lis Tomforde you are a gem.If you have not read this book/series; what are you waiting for? Get yourselves to a book store or the Amazon website and buy them, you do not know what you are missing out on.
