Tipu Pen Blank Center Finder w/Scale

I dislike buying knockoff tools, many of which are subpar and simply photoshop out the logos on a genuine item in their listing, but took a chance with this one since Woodpeckers no longer makes the original version. The Tipu version of this tool is larger and less elegant, but it's solidly constructed and the angles are dead on. The picture in the listing appears to be the actual tool I received, not a stolen and modified image. I'd still rather pay more for a more-refined American-made center finder from Woodpeckers, but that's not an option.

Easy to use, Very sturdy and pretty accurate!

I really like this little gadget! Very well made, very accurate, and saves a lot of time! Great for pen blanks and other small turnings. Hold it and your wood piece in one hand, mark with the other. Easy-peasy! Good quality, fair price.

I turn pens and I always have a hard time trying to find the center of my pen blank. Not any more since I purchased Tipu pen blank centering tool. It is made very well, easy to use. I love it.

This is a nice solid center finder that actually works. Works great on round stock,wood,resin castings. Very pleased with this purchase.

This is a very nice pen blank center finder. It's made of a big, heavy chunk of aluminum with a pretty red anodized finish. It's as tall as a half pen blank, which gives it an advantage over other flat profile centering gauges that simply cover the end a pen blank when marking. The advantage with this gauge is that with pen blanks that are deformed or twisted over the length, it creates a center cross mark that averages over the surface irregularities and crookedness over the length of the half blank. With a crooked pen blank, this feature gives a more meaningful and accurate centering than simply centering over the end faces.Also keep in mind that all pen blank centering gauges (this product included) only work perfectly when the blanks are totally square. If a blank's cross section has a particularly uneven or maybe rectangular shape rather than square, this blank will not find the true center.

I absolutely love this little gizmo. I've had a few cheap plastic "center finder" tools in the past, and was always sorry I had spent the money on them because they were clumsy to handle and a pain to use. I saw this one on Amazon, and it was different...first it was made out of heavy aluminum (not cheap plastic). Secondly, it was a more convenient and useable size (deep jaws that will stay put while I try to hold my work inside of it without having the template "slip off" or move around). And a nice bright color that would make it easy to spot on my cluttered work bench. It is not the cheapest in price, but it reminds me again that you get what you pay for. I absolutely love this little guy, and you will too. I use it several times per day for centering work for my lathe and it's dead-on accurate and really a pleasure to use.
