A Nightmare On Elm Street Collection Review
The "A Nightmare On Elm Street Collection" on Blu-ray has received mixed reviews. While some sources praise the set for its comprehensive content and high-quality documentary, others criticize the visual quality of the films. The High Def Digest review highlights the exhaustive and well-done documentary as the real highlight of the set. However, the Dread Central review mentions that the films themselves look merely okay, with a noticeable but not significant upgrade in visual clarity compared to the DVD counterparts. The technical quality of the films on the discs is described as extremely variable. Therefore, if you are a fan of the franchise and value the comprehensive content and documentary, this collection may still be worth considering. However, if visual quality is a priority, it's important to be aware of the variable technical quality of the films in this collection.

Excellent.
What is there to say!? Who on this planet doesn't know of Freddy Krueger!?An iconic horror franchise, maybe the most famous villain of all time. The fifth film is undoubtedly the worst followed by 2 and 4 but 1, 3, 6 and 7 are all watchable and entertaining.Tons and tons of bonus features scattered throughout the 8 discs.A must have collection for any horror fan.

Great series, Blu-ray quality is variable
I've loved this series since I was a teenager in the 1980s and 1990s. I saw Freddy's Dead the day it was released in UK cinemas. I bought the DVDs many years ago, but in my late 40s I decided I'd like to run through these again on Blu-ray... and Amazon had this seven-film set from 2009 going at a terrific price. The films are wonderful, with the first, third, fourth and fifth forming a cohesive story arc, seeing the acting debuts of Johnny Depp and Patricia Arquette, among others, and the directing debuts (or breakthroughs of) Jack Sholder, Chuck Russell (co-writing with Frank Darabont), Renny Harlin, Stephen Hopkins and Rachel Talalay. The films include tremendous, surreal effects work, with practical (pre-CGI) effects from some ingenious inventors, that beat anything computer generated from the present day. Rewatching the films after all these years, I was surprised to find that the fifth film resonated with me in a completely different way, as it has some very dramatic storytelling in the 'real world' and I think it's rather wonderful. It was also a perfect end to the series. On the other hand, I found Freddy's Dead awful, having dated terribly. The second film was always bad, other than having Kim Myers in it! The standout performances of the series, other than Robert Englund, for me, were Heather Langenkamp as original final girl Nancy Thompson, Patricia Arquette as the original Kristen Parker, and Lisa Wilcox as Alice Johnson in the fourth and fifth films. Wilcox's performance in both films encompasses an exceptional amount of character development for a genre film and she plays the role to perfection. Alice is without doubt my favourite character in the series. The technical quality of the films on the discs is extremely variable. The remastered first film had recently been re-released in a two-disc set, which is included here, and looks good. The other films are bundled two-to-a-disc with some old extras. Some of the films look great, such as New Nightmare and the fifth film. The third film - often regarded as the best-loved - is disappointingly poor quality, looking like it was sourced from an old print. Disappointingly, these are the R-rated US theatrical versions, so there are cuts to some of the death scenes, notably the first ever Freddy murder in the first film (which was uncut in the UK and I remember distinctly from my 1980s VHS copy- it's a hard one to forget!) Meanwhile the fourth film now includes the scene with nunchucks previously cut from UK VHSes (although it was present when I saw the film on Sky Movies in the early 1990s!)So it's a mixed bag: a dated, old, relatively early Blu-ray release that unquestionably doesn't represent the films at their best quality, but is the best current release on the market. Freddy vs Jason and the 2009 Platinum Dunes remake are not included, but that's no great loss for me!With those minor qualifications, given the fantastic price, I highly recommend this set. Hoping for some 4Ks for the 40th anniversary in 2024!

Rien de mieux que les vieux films.
Petit coffret blu-ray nickel. Toute la series des freddy. Impeccable. Par contre sur les 7 films il y en a deux qui ne sont ni doubler ni sous titré en français. Dommage pour ça.

Must buy box set for the extra features alone.
Arrived on time in good condition. As for the box set, if you're a fan of the series the extra features are worth the price alone. Even the actual movies have behind the scenes extras not listed on box cover.Image/ sound quality is good for what it is, 5.1 audio 1080p video. Some artifacts visible but that's expected. Great box set.
