differant beginngs to the story for this authour but enjoyable
This was quite difficult to really get into, not as quick as other well known books by this very good author, infact I was wondering if it had been written by Mandasue Heller, I persevered with it as I know I like her books, I would actually say that I had read 3/4 or near before I got the grasp of the story, but then it really did become 1 of her own books, was good to read the book but if you are like me want too read the plot at the beginning you are in for a bit of disappointment as it hots up as previously remarked well over half the book. only gave this 4star for the lenth of time it took to get to the good bits otherwise it would of been 5star

Afraid
A book which shows how young people can be groomed online under the nose of their parents who believe they know what their children are doing online. It shows how easily a child/young person can be tricked into believing that they are talking to a genuine person particularly at a time when they are feeling vulnerable and unsupported whether this is by their peers or parents. It's a harrowing story of what could happen. The book Afraid is about a young girl, Skye, who is talking to 2 girls online about bullying at school and troubles within her family and how she feels. After her mum stabs her dad she is taken into care then runs away and goes into hiding for fear of being taken back to the home. One of the girls says she will help her and advises where they can meet up. This is where online grooming becomes reality and shows not only where this could lead but how easily a young person can be tricked into believing what isn't true.

Fantastic
I've waited ages for this book to be released and resorted to reading her previous books as I've been struggling to find a good readWow! What can i say? Apart from reading it in two instalments, this has to be her best book yet. I really don't want to ruin the plot but it's a book that I couldn't put down and felt at times like screaming at the main character skye to realise just what was happening to her. This is an excellent book and that's really all I can say. I'm not used to reviewing books so forgive the scant review. The ending is excellent and found that i didn't want the book to end. I was reading it so fast that I was skim reading as I couldn't wait wait to see what happened next!I hope we don't have to.wait another 2 years for your next book manda sue and feel sad that I've finished it.A massive 5 stars plus from me!

Excellent
This is the first book I’ve read by Mandasue Heller and it won’t be my last!I usually read Kimberley Chambers, Martina Cole, Roberta Kray amongst a few other crime authors but I can now add MH to that list.I won’t go into the story but suffice to say it’s a shocking and difficult read in the subject matter, but the book was very well written and I couldn’t put it down. In fact I finished this book in less than 2 days.I enjoy books like these as they open your eyes to some of the horrors that go on in our society right under our noses sometimes and it makes you feel grateful for having a decent and kind family.Would definitely recommend.

Incredibly realistic
I love Mandasue Heller and often find her writing style similar to Martina Cole's. This book was completely different though and it had me gripped from the moment I started reading. The realistic situation that Skye finds herself in is written incredibly well. The feelings she showed towards her abuser were well researched and made for some gut wrenching reading. At times I felt like screaming out loud, for Skye to stop being so naive, but then I would be brought back to the harsh truth that Skye was in fact a 15 year old child in a dangerous predicament.
