These recycled paper egg cartons do in fact perform as advertised.They actually hold a dozen eggs, can be handled full of them without warping, distorting or dumping them on the way to the kitchen, providing you do not tamper with the locking mechanism, and have abilities slightly above that of a three year old, and are not above a .25% BAC, or otherwise unable to ambulate, or grasp items over a pound and a half.However, they will not feed, or water your flock. Nor, will they clean the coop, replace the hay, or cycle the door to let your very own flock of roving, feathered, raptors in, or out at dusk, and dawn.

Just received the order a few days ago. I didn't check the details of previous reviews before I placed the order - normally a bad decision. But I purchased based on price as I don't sell that many and I didn't want to spend that much on them. I was pleasantly surprised, The crates were packaged well with an inner bag, I suppose to keep out moisture. The were shipped fast but used USPS and USPS doesn't give that good of tracking information.There was a comment about smell. I can tell they were recently produced - or produced and sealed. I wouldn't have noticed the odor if I didn't see the comment. I agree there is an odor on closer inspection, but not offensive - just new. After leaving a few out in the open it is hardly noticeable to me.There was another comment that they are flimsy and can't really be re-used. I suppose they can be reused and probably would not old up if you stacked a bunch on top of each other, but I never have but a few dozen at a time, so the stacking them is not an issue. I purchased 140 so that I could eliminate re-use of synthetic materials. These are "recycled from 100% reclaimed paper" and could make good seed starters.

I was concerned when I read comments about an odor but when I received these, it was not overpowering. The cartons smelled like they had been recently manufactured rather than smelling like they had been moldering in a corner somewhere for years. These cartons are sturdy and can be reused many times.

These are not as thick as the egg cartons you get at the store, but they still hold up well to a drop or bump. They hold my chicken's large eggs just fine. They will tear a little on the back 'hinge' if you are not careful when removing then from the box, but I still used the ones I tore (it was a couple of inches), with no problems. Would recommend to anyone needing packaging for their eggs, and I will buy again!

We have a very small mini farm and was tired of paying for egg crates that didn't get returned. Decided to order these and if they were not up to par, I would return them. I was pleasantly surprised when the package arrived and found very sturdy egg cartons and contrary to some of the previous posts, there was no odor detected. I'll be reordering when needed.

There were some complaints on some of the other reviews about the quality of these egg cartons and I almost didn't order these because of those comments but I did anyway. I have not had any serious issues with them. There have been a few that the notches in the lid didn't quite match up with the bottom part but so far they have all still closed, don't look like they didn't match up when closed and they look and feel like they can be used many times. I would probably order these again. but since there are so many it might be a couple years or longer before I need more. I did not notice any type of smell when I opened the package as others have stated. I also have not had any problems in removing them from the box. I'm giving 4 stars out of 5 just because of the closures not matching up perfectly.

Just got these today. Opened the box and the first 10 egg cartons useless, they are all messed up. Who knows what im going to find after using a few. Hoping this is not going to be a waste of money. Shipping was much faster than expected though. **update** after using these cartons i started noticing a smell from my kitchen, the egg cartons stink. They smell awful. Almost like a soured smell. Checked the remaining cartons and they smell the same way. I will NOT be purchasing these again!

Chickens are a new thing to us since we moved out rural. So everything is a discovery. Things going well and I like these boxes a lot. Much of the stuff you see at stores have holes in them to save weight and cost. These boxes are "heavier duty" than what you see in the supermarkets. Very reuseable. I'm getting these again.
