Yes it is. The XP is a designation for use with Full synthetic oils. They will usually cost a bit more because they are supposed to be more durable for longer oil change intervals versus non-synthetics oil use.

why it did not fit my 2002 sport trax

It should have if you have the 4.0 motor. I’ve had some that were difficult to get the thread to start.
