Crocodile Shoes: The Complete Collection [DVD]

I loved Spender - a superb blend of Jimmy Nail and Sammy Johnson that was a recipe for a wonderful series. As a fan of Jimmy Nail I bought this DVD not quite sure what to expect: the roller-coaster ride of a Country singer that goes from obscurity to the top them straight to a living hell. It was fantastic! The writing was clinical. The cast was totally supporting and meshed just right. So why was this so good? As I watched each episode, it was difficult to tell what was going to happen next. In the first series, James Wilby plays Ade Lynn, a record producer that through devious means takes Jed Sheppard (Jimmy Nail) to stardom as a country singer - the new big thing. The are so many twists and turns that I was gripped as to what the next bombshell would be. Though Wilby is missed is the second series this is just as strong as Jed faces crisis after crisis. Jimmy Nail was fantastic in all of this - as they say in the game, a real 'tour de force'. And the bonus? Jimmy Nail really can sing and among the hits that became hits were the eponymous 'Crocodile Shoes' and the fantastic 'Country Boy'. Raise your hands and jump for joy - lets hear it for the Country Boy!

Always loved the music on this show, In fact my wife and I regard "The Difference Between a Woman and a Man" is our song and tells our story. We are both in our 70's and we both lost our spouses after nearly 50 years of marriage. My new wife and I met and married and I now live in Florida with my American wife. We had our 3rd anniversary this month and we are blessed with having some very talented singers as friends who regaled us with songs from this album. I am slowly introducing Americans to Jimmy Nail and his brand of country music. Most songs sang at our "21 Dog Years" anniversary party were from this show. Quite a few watched the show with us on DVD and hopefully within the next few weeks I will show them "Aufweisen Pet" when the boys sell a bridge to Indians in Arizona. I am sure the Yanks will enjoy it once they get used to the Geordie accents.Thanks Jimmy for a very pleasant anniversary all down to the music from this album. And yes a lot of guest were wearing Crocodile Shoes or something similar along with their Stetsons.

I watched this series when it first came out on tv' with my late son nathan who like me just loved the programme .i then could only get the video of the first series.So when this complete DVD set came out I just had to get itI watched the whole series within 2days whilst on holiday and was thinking of my son Nathan and smiledKnowing he would have borrowed it from his dad to again to injoy itAnd if you listen to the songs in more detail you know that jimmy nail did write mainly about his own experiencesNow all we need is some one at the BBC to read these reviews and get spender out on DVD tooA must for all jimmy nail fans

Extremely pleased with this DVD. It arrived on time, and well packaged. I didn't know what to expect with it being second hand, but it was in very good condition.

Well worth buying this collection, which demonstrates the brilliant ability of Jimmy Nail. As with most things, however, some of the magic has been lost from when it was first televised, hence the four stars.

This DVD was bought as a gift for my mate, so until I hear from him I can't give a proper review! I watched Crocodile Shoes on the telly in the 1990's and Jimmy Nail was outstanding in that, so I assume the DVD will be every bit as good. If not I'll rewrite this review!

Fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this series again. I love everything that I have seen and heard with Jimmy Nail in/on. I think he's a good writer/actor/singer. I'm currently reading his autobiography and I think he's a lovely down to earth human being. This series is great for any one who likes a good storyline, it has romance, suspense, it's thrilling and has the odd murder..... PLUS..... lots of great music. Thanks Jimmy.

I like Jimmy Nail. I like his music and I like his acting. If you have similar tastes you can't go wrong in buying this DVD
