giving a selection of fine bottles of gin
I bought this book for my Husband from my two boys for Father's Day. He likes to drink gin, he spends time looking at supermarkets to try a new gin. He always goes for the same bottle of gin as in the supermarket they don't give clear descriptions of the taste and what Fruits or foods might compliment each gin. I myself am not a gin drinker however I have looked through this very informative book, giving a selection of fine bottles of gin. Including pictures and inform oration about each one which will make the supermarket trip a lot easier as my husband will have an insight of which gin t go for. I also liked the fact that this book includes lots of cocktails you can make at home which I may make when we are entertaining friends. I would recommend this book.I may have received this product free/or at a reduced cost in return for an honest review and this in no way influenced the integrity of my review. All opinions are my own and I always review discounted products as if I had paid the full advertised price. If you like your gins, you will love this up-market magazine.
This book was described as 'used' but there was no sign that it had been read. It was in excellent, as new, condition. Some reviews have suggested that this is a book, but it is quite clearly an up-market magazine and none the worse for that, with a large A4 format. Covers a large number of gins but by no means not all the 200 or so that are currently available. The number seems to be increasing at almost a daily rate. I am quite a whisky fan/expert giving talks on malt whisky on a semi professional basis. With many new distilleries currently being planned and build (over 40 at the last count), many are also building the facility to produce gin which does not require a maturation period, unlike whisky which requires 3 years and one day of cask maturation, at the very least, before it can be legally sold as whisky. So the sale of gin can start immediately and helps with the cash flow for what is a very expensive start up period. I thought it was about time to learn more about gin production. I had hoped that this magazine would have covered the production process more fully but is only touched on very lightly. There are several good images of the equipment used but this is not the same as a detailed description. Never the less the description of the gins is interesting and good in its own right. It is really my fault that l did not study the contents of the magazine well enough before buying, but it was very cheap, so l have no regrets buying it. l will still give it four stars.

OK but....
Bought as a present for my partner, but I read it before she did! A bit disappointed because although Plymouth Gin is mentioned in the history part, it does not have its own page in the rest of the book. Strange. Also because the gin market has so many new products it is obviously out of date, but still quite good overall.

Birthday gift
The recipient was well pleased with this gift I got for her. She is a gin lover & I thought this would be the perfect gift. Other members of the office were having a snoop, it's so informative & useful. Having flicked through it myself & also being a gin lover, I may treat myself to one.
