Not Practical
Functionally, these work well. However, you should research the specific games that you are using them for to determine if the juice is worth the squeeze. For example, I wanted to play Assassin's Creed and Doom. Do they work? Yes. Are they practical for this game? No. Here's why...you still have to MOVE! It's difficult to move and shoot when you have to use the same joycon set to do both.

It works but limited applicability
We only first got our boys Switches this year. Because they are young, we didn't really get a lot of violent, first person shooter type games. There are a few though that utilize this and would be applicable for this compatible controller. We did try it briefly for Splatoon which it worked but I think that was only for a training ground and not the main game (which isn't FPS). We haven't tried it yet with plants v. zombies but that might be another one. The controller does seem to allow you to point in the general direction as well as fire but it's somewhat slower and a bit awkward. Overall it works but like I said, how many games would you really use this on?
